It is tough, it was a question on the radio and it,s really hard to get it down to one track.

Diamonds and rust, I saw Joan Baez singing it last week at the Sage. About an old muse a guy called Dylan

On repeat, for the rest of my life? Easy answer here:

John Cage, 4'33".

Anything else would drive you mad.

Any song would drive you mad if you're made to listen to it enough times.

Listening to Booker T's Green Onions umpteen times a day for 6 weeks while I was doing a summer bar job at a holiday camp was enough to make me dream about ways of murdering the house band one by one - even though they were pretty good and it's a canny tune!

Good call for Al Stewart but I'd probably choose some 22 minute prog rock epic to make sure I got my money's worth. There aren't really *that* many I like but still enough to fit the bill.

I missed the joke so had to look it up. Very good call and a serious contender, BUT, the proposition states "listen to one song". Cage's magnum opus arguably falls foul of two of those three constraints. However, you could get pretty close to the same effect with Laurie Anderson's "Oh Superman" with the volume turned right down.

A Plague Of Lighthouse Keepers - Van Der Graaf Generator. Ridiculously difficult to get down to one, would probably say something different tomorrow but right now I just feel like going a bit mental.

Using that logic, I would go for the full 44 minutes or so of Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick.

That's three for a full side or more of prog rock. We're definitely onto something.

Mr Crab, you are clearly not genre savvy, although your Mrs might be.
Those full-siders are not verse-chorus-rinse-repeat.
