Read this in one of Sundays papers.
A book called Football Leaks Uncovering The Dirty Deals Behind The Beautiful Game to be released this month shows details of cash being paid to foreign footballers.
'According to the book, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, in addition to an average salary of £198,000 a week, will receive a £15.1 million loyalty bonus if he stays until his contract ends in 2021.
He will get an extra £50,000 every time Arsenal win a match in which he starts and, most bizarrely, a £2.26 million Champions League bonus even though the club have not even qualified for it.
No wonder he can post pictures of his gold plated cars every other day. And if you are wondering why Wenger could not keep Sanchez, try the Chileans £391,000 a week Old Trafford deal, topped up by £75,000 match fee and a £6.7m signing on fee.'

These are the only 2 players mentioned in the article, if these or similar figures are say multiplied by 20, just imagine how much that would be going out of the game.
When is reality going to kick in and the FA put a cap on these obscene wages and demands. I would hazard a guess that most of this money is going abroad and out of OUR game.

I'd guess those 'obscene wages' are the gross amounts, so that's a fair whack of tax & NI going into the pot on a weekly basis. Also, did it mention any British players? Curious as to why they've only pointed out the foreigners...

As for salary caps, etc. that'll never happen - it would have to be a global rule otherwise it's pointless.

I don’t blame the players to be honest, the game generates a ridiculous amount of cash and they are entitled to a slice of that.

These bonus payments are to get around 50% tax, we wouldn’t attract the top foreign players without them because of half of your wage going to the tax man. What isn’t mentioned is how much money the hand must be generating for the economy. They are nothing new Micheal Owen was on £20,000 a week image rights at Newcastle on top on his basic years ago.

The clubs are the ones paying the wages. If an employer offered you that kind of money to play footy would you say no? I know I wouldn't.

It's got so far out of hand it will never change now sadly. Agents have too much power now, they are the ones the FA and FIFA should have restricted but they were probably too busy taking their cuts.

I fail to see the issue with any of the money ending up abroad either, it’s where billions of it came from in the first place!!

The Premier League is so cash rich because of its popularity around the World and the income the TV deal generates. Plus how about all of the Foreign owners who have also pumped in billions.

That's why the talk of the Accrington friendly at Yubep's garden has gone quiet. He's demanding 20% of all match fees. Insisting that the money stays in HIS game.

I valued a team near Sheffield a few years back. Probably last season at their old ground. Two players accounted for about 50% of the wage bill. 6k a week one was on. I think he played half the season drawing his wage. It’s all relative. If you’re daft enough to pay em......

Anyone else hoping this thread would be about the likes of Nathan Luscombe and Fat Ronaldo?
