63 miles from Harlepool. A Poolie derby with Harrogate - whoever would have thunk it?

Easy day out all the same.

Exacly what I was thinking was only this season I think or the season before (my memory's like a goldfish) I was down their place for a pre season friendly we lost 2-1.

Or on a freezing cold Boxing Day like Gateshead away, Hopefully the away match is at the beginning off the season and conditions will be better.

Think they went to a full time squad from part timers.

Was this a tea room for Harrogate's solvent abusers?

I do like Harrogate but given it likes to think it’s quite posh the ideal fixture would be the last away game so the fancy dress could descend on it, that would piss a few off

The theme could be elderly and dead Tories. Would blend in nicely with the local population and Mr I could fulfil his fantasy of being in the middle of a sea of Thatchers.

Does anyone remember what Terry Collier said about Harrogate?

It was a liberal seat when Phil Willis was the MP but the Tories have recently taken it over and have a substantial majority.
General election turnout is 70%+ which is something the rest of the country could do with following.
A straw poll of blokes in pubs is that at least 80% wear sandals and the wimmin are braless so i would have thought it would Liberal hotbed.

Not sure but was it this?

Nice tidy ground, the away end is a bit compact but has a roof and good for atmosphere. Makes up for the lack of home fans.

Good point but it doesn't seem funny enough to have been in The Likely Lads. Unless maybe Bob said it.

Betty's best Yorkshire parkin with lashings of butter would be the thing. Tea never tasted better than with a fat wedge of parkin.

The Blues Bar and Cafe next door but one is a cracking little bar, £2.80 a pint, very decent scran and excellent live music. It was bouncing last week

Virtually all the pubs in Harrogate are decent selling a wide selection of real ales, continental lagers and good quality food. Generally only a "bit" more pricey but vastly superior to the shite that the pubs and restaurants of Hartlepool serve up.
