Has been taken to hospital suffering from a brain haemorrhage. A statement said the procedure "had gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery".

Know a couple of people who worked in the hotel industry who worked in hotels that Manchester United used when playing away, and both say Ferguson is a genuinely decent and friendly bloke away from the cameras. Roy Keane on the other hand was arrogance personified!

I can't recall my Mam's illness being on News at Ten and definitely....cos I remember....her death wasn't even on Look North!!!!
Who decides that Alex Ferguson's Cold is more important than my mother's passing....or anyone's mother's/father's/brothers/sisters/child's etc.

I'm never going to partake in a R.I.P. thread again....unless it's mine!!!! banghead

I’m not into all the RIP stuff for people you don’t know we all have enough grief over the course of our own lives to get effected by people we don’t know but with all due respect it’s a bit worse than a cold he’s seriously ill and it is news because he’s a very famous person, celebrity death illness and more a point of interest than genuine feelings obviously some people shock and interest more than others but he’s one of Footballs biggest names.

He’s probably one of the greatest leaders of the 21st century, he dominated a sport and defined it. His legacy will long out live him. Hope he makes a full n well recovery.

In no way is he any more important than anyone else. But like pj said it’s news worthy as he’s a famous person.

He dominated in this country. He was given a harsh lesson several times in Europe.

Don't disagree though, until Arsene Wenger he was pretty much untouchable in English football.

You sir, are a shithouse.

Maybe...Just maybe...Sir Alex is more well known than your mother and would have many people (mainly Manure fans admittedly) more bothered about his possible untimely passing from a brain haemorrhage (not a cold) than her. Just a thought.

No Muttley isn't being a shithouse.

I know where you are coming from Mutt. I only do RIPs or get well soons for people I feel some kind connect with, like Kenny Johnson for example.
Best thing is just not to post and lie low. If anyone's actually keeping scores to see who does or doesn't do condolences, and then judging them on it (although I doubt very much there are), they're the one's who have the problem.
Now, having said that, I don't wish any ill on Fergie. But he's at an age where you can expect this sort of thing. What will be will be.

If I had to list the shithouses who have posted on this forum over the years, mutters would be way down the list......in fact he wouldn't even be on it.

I’d put myself top of my own shithouse list. So there.

I'm not going to continue posting on a forum where everybody is shithouse. I'm not sure which forum that is but í'm definitely going to stop.

Are you for real?
My mam dying was more important to me than any football manager, film star or other celeb. No matter how important they are, they ain’t important to me. Nothing against the bloke, but I operate to a different list of names.

Yeah I think Nelly has missed Mutleys point somewhat, and I agree with Mutley to an extent about public outpourings of grief, but it’s always going to news at the same time.

But anyone who claims to be affected by the strife of someone who they don’t know is someone with no sense of perspective or grip with what’s important in your own life.
