From a club statement, according to the Fail:

“We’re already looking at making the appointment of a new first-team manager and we met with Matthew Bates earlier on Friday to discuss it with him,” it read. “It was only fair that we did that to allow Matthew to put his case forward on the back of the results achieved in recent weeks to secure our place in the National League. We will be talking to other people about the vacancy as well, because we have to make sure we get the right man for the job and let him get on with it as soon as possible. The club can’t afford to be left behind in terms of player recruitment or preparations for the new season, so we have to act swiftly and decisively on that appointment."

Fair enough. The important thing is that they get on with it.

I'm more confident in the right appointment given that Hignett will most likely make the decision. If it's not Bates it would be a shame but there's no room for sentiment.

Whoever it is they need to get a shift on as most clubs will be way ahead in getting their squads in shape for next season

I don't think anyone will realistically have started thinking about their squads for next campaign.

Accrington Stanley haven't announced their pre-season schedule and as such I can only conclude that that bidding process is still well underway. Can't imagine clubs will be focusing on much else.

Doesn't having a director of football mean players can be signed whether we have a manager in place or not? I'd imagine Hignett's role will be similar to the the head of recruitment only he is qualified and capable of spotting a footballer.

This time of year must be a nightmare for Accrington, inundated I’d imagine

“Joyce tell Barcelona they’ll have to fucking hold I’ve got Bayern on line 2, no we can’t do the 14th we’ve already got Padiham away”

Said John Coleman, possibly.

You do realise that they bankrolled to an extent by a wealthy owner who is a fan and isn’t that bothered at embezzling or asset stripping? It does give a bit more of a chance. Before he stepped in they were on the verge of going the way they did in the 60’s.

The season ticket prices reflect the crowds they get and the fact the owner can afford to take the hit to put them into context we had a bigger gate against Torquay than they had for either of the home games that would have seen them promoted and the one that did.

I'd prefer the Victoria's Secret Park just for the cheerleaders.

season ticket prices are the same as last seasons price. new owner andy holt only paid off the clubs debt which was lover than one and a half million. does not fund the playing side but has made a few ground improvements and a new stand to be built during the summer. agree that pools are a bigger supported club than stanley but bums on seats aint everything. stockport county get even more than pools get regularly. as to prices for season tickets if you want a bargain then bradford city ones are 40 quid less than at accrington.
