If any other poolies out there use Virgin Media for their broadband, do a speed test on your system as currently there is a fault. I pay for 200mbps yet I am only getting 42mbps. I have called virgin and they tell me there is a fault in this area and has been since 6th December and is unlikely to be sorted out until 16th May. They have told me that they will reduce my bill for the duration. If you are with virgin, check it out. In my opinion if they have a fault they should inform the customer at the start of the fault and not wait until a customer discovers it and complains. Whether they back date it is another thing. You are entitled to be recompensed.

Admittedly not in the same area but i used to have the same problem. Paid for 150Mbps, regularly only got just above 30Mbps on wifi and that was with no fault. They will tell you that the top speeds are only available if you are connected directly to the router as wifi can vary and it depends on others usage at the time too. So well done for getting a discount as i never, despite the evidence to show our internet never got anywhere near the offered amount. Given i don't use the internet at 2am, plug into the router and wait for the wind to blow east i went to sky. Only promise a maximum of 72Mbps and on wifi regularly get above 50 or 60 Mbps.

Virgin will tell you they are the only one to offer such speeds but i doubt you'll ever get them. In short, don't believe the hype

That’s nowt, I’m with Pamarama and we’re supposed to have a team up there challenging for promotion and all I got was a skip full of bullshit.
I may ask for compensation.

That 42mbps is recorded about 6 inches from the router (super hub 3). I was told by someone who works for virgin that download speeds at the router you should get within 10%

I pay for 200mbps and am currently getting 110mbps, which I don’t mind. I left sky as I was getting 4mpbs and they wouldn’t offer fibre in my area. Couldn’t even watch YouTube without it buffering

I know it's beside the point but you must have a lot of people in your house to need more than 50Mbps. Virgin do well to sell their 300Mbps lines to the average consumer who has no need for it.

When i had my line installed with Virgin in Hartlepool (100mb) I was getting ~91mb. Just did a speedtest over ethernet I'm getting 115mb and wifi 76mb so can't really complain. I live just near Brierton Lane.

I am not sure how big the area affected by this fault but I live in the Clavering area.

Only got 3 devices that use ours, it just happened to be the deal that they had on included 200mpbs broadband. Back when I was with Sky I’d have been happy getting 30mbps.
