Read in the Non-League Paper the other week that phoenix clubs are not allowed to go overdrawn.....oh dear.

This is surely bad shit?

I say this because income can not be relied on to be regular, for example and as it says in the article I read, all it takes is for you to have a bad winter, have a few games called off and you haven't had gate money for a month but regular bills and wages etc will still need paying.

Will take some financial wizardry to keep a football club from ever going overdrawn I would imagine?

Perhaps our friends from Darlo know more about this?

Also Bates is about 3x the size in real life and that's after allowing for photographs adding a stone or whatever it is.....or is that tele?

Anyway, Bates is fat whereas the bloke in the photo is portly at worst (which could actually be more to do with the ill fitting jacket coupled with the FACT it's difficult to carry off a white shirt and jacket with red dickie bow).

That’s you that is.

I reckon some people on this thread don't believe Garlic Bread is the future!

Cash flow is crucial. You could do worse than for HUST to approach DFCSG for advice and experiences if they haven’t already done so. If you do have to start again you need to get that fundraising into full gear to meet the immediate calls of setting up a whole new structure from scratch. At least you have your own ground, a bonus would be if you can take most of your current home support with you

Thank you Mr pete.

How much do you reckon we'd need to be ready for next season?

About £3m if you want to stay in the National League bbolt
Seriously though, the more you have the better! You have to weigh up whether its worth throwing more money down the drain with the current set up in the hope someone comes along or you can build up your war chest for whatever the outcome is.

Thing is you have to be realistic. If we had known the outcome of the FAs decision to relegate us to the Northern League and treat us as a new club even though we were carrying the debt with us, we would have been better off blowing the debt out and starting from scratch, with £300k we didn't have to find from day 1.
I do think however that we did the right thing morally, but it gained us nothing. We could still have bought the badge, history and sell on clauses from the administrator and still gained from the use of these.

Assuming that decisions on the club's future are out of your hands and worst-case scenario a phoenix club has to be started, you would have to see which league you are placed in (or can negotiate). The later the current club is closed down, then the tighter your league deadlines and the time you have for action. However, you would be prevented from entering the FA Cup in its first season at least, see this year's qualification criteria - http://www.thefa.com/news/2017/feb/24/f ... -18-season.

That's why you have to be ready now (with cash and people) and from what I've read about HUST (from a distance) they seem to have good support from Supporters Direct and should have a good handle on these queries already. Like I said before, if you can drag most of your support with you and have a significant portion of them willing to fund the club (in addition to paying for season tickets), then you may enjoy the ride back. And if you can take Jeff Stelling and some local companies with you, then so much the better.

Having the support of the council with your own ground is crucial, as your fund-raising is not being dragged in different directions for different issues.

Phoenix isn't an easy option, but starting again can give you control over the club's destiny you've never had before. Then you'll find your league level through your financial levels. And it would be better still to get to the point of having only one combined and united supporters' group - though I suspect this is likely to happen only after the phoenix club scenario has played out into next season. You *could* be the major shareholders by then.
