Currently have a rather boring Bolton v Bristol City match on in the background. However I pricked up my ears when the commentator referred to the fact that City were almost liquidated back in '82 - in the end they were saved effectively by 8x players agreeing to have their contracts cancelled. Come on guys, let's be 'avin you.

I reckon our problems are beyond that, there's no doubt in my mind the players are far from the biggest earners from Pools...

Remember it well. Went from 1st to 4th div in successive seasons I seem to remember and they were well in the Cack.

You're right Horden. I too remember them sinking like a stone through the divisions. In fact in Div 4 I believe they lost their first 3 league games including 1-3 against Pools at The Vic. Loads of gas head fans down here in Cornwall and BCFC are not a much liked club despite the obvious rivalry.

I lived in Swindon for 13 years so experienced a bit of the West Country rivalry between the Bristol clubs, Swindon and Plymouth.

Got a soft spot for Rovers. Fans of other clubs tend to like them, though I think that is more to do with how horrible their rivals are rather than that Rovers fans are so angelic, Eastville was apparently a dogdy ground to visit in the 70s. I have always enjoyed my trips to the Memorial Ground though.

According to previous threads, players wages account for around £85k of the £130k we’re reported to be losing every month. Although they get the majority of the abuse, they are the people on the wage bill who are the closest to being able to claim that they earn their money.

The Phoenix Club hasn't even been set up yet.

Or are you suggesting we get Brian Potter in to run it?

That's unusual. With Bolton and Bristol City you'd normally expect some good, fast paced, end-to-end quality football.
