Why are they so chewy to change?

Took me about 20 minutes of contorting my hand into a space I couldn't see trying to release a thing resembling a paper clip.

It eventually pinged off with no hope of it going back on. Had to tape the bulb fitting back into position.

I know it isn't something that needs sorting every week, but it can't be that hard to design some sort of board that lifts in and out easily.

Our car was in for a service this week and when it came back from the service centre there’s a diagnostic light up, so I got the book thing out and it’s all in Arabic FFS I barely read English. So I bought some tape from the shop today though to sort it out and cover the light up as it was annoying me. All sorted for less than a quid.

Thing is, newer ones are more chewy. My mk3 Golf was a 2 minute job, which is why I swerved Halfords. The mk4 is what I've got now which has gone backwards in the simple maintenance stakes.

Our lasses car needed a new front light bulb a few years back, it was when the new shape came out and she'd always had a micra. The older shape till 2004 was a doddle. I tried to change the new one, it was a nightmare, I got cramp in my hand after half an hour. Three of us tried with no joy and embarassingly drove into the garage I normally used. The boss called this young lad out who did it in seconds. rakxe No charge. clappp

I had an Abarth Punto, rear lights were easy, fronts were a pain in the arse though, wheel liner out and a push together clasp thing.
