The gap I probably bigger in League places now than it was when that was at it's height in the rivals days when we had just been promoted leaving them behind in the Fourth division. I used to particularly enjoy not so subtly calling it the fourth division whilst always referring to us being in 'League One'.

To be honest half the time I don't even know how they've got on, and they still have their own problems and it probably wasn't that funny to start with

North-east football is a mess. 1 Premier League team in 13th, 2 championship one 8th one bottom then a couple of national league strugglers.

To be fair, I’m not really interested in NE football, just Pools.

I am.

My first ever game was with my Uncle Eddie at Roker Park. I have friends who are Maggies and Smoggies and Maccams. Believe it or not I would also rather Darlo be competing with Pools as the Derby atmospheres were top.

PTID, but I wish all the other north east teams well.

Just shows how unattractive the whole region is though. The top league is now dominated by teams in the north west and down south, the 2 most prosperous regions in the country.

There’s plenty of prosperous people, they just don’t want to spend it on footy. Unless you love a team and accept you’ll lose money on the deal, there really is no point.
Come to that, how many of the top teams are foreign owned?

It's almost always been that way though, the last time a team from round here won the top division was 1936... for about a century, it's been mainly teams from the NW or from London, with occasional winners from the Midlands and the odd win for Leeds..... for all that the NE is talked about as a hotbed of football, a lot of our most successful sons have ended up playing elsewhere to become really successful....
