Turned 31 today, only 31!!

What a cruel waste of talent, certainly potentially one the best players to come through our youth into first team football.

The best I would say. That injury at Hibs when he was only 16 couldn't of done him any good. Those half dozen games at start of 2007/08 season he was on fire, as good as any player I have seen at Pools. To be fair, he started in a club on the up with decent players around him, that does help. He finished at a club on the slippery slope with not so good players around him.

It was both sad and awful watching him in his last two seasons though, running with a slight limp, ducking tackles. A cruel end to what should of been a great career.

Probably one of my fav players at pools, one of the most naturally gifted and talented. The season we got promoted he was unreal. Could twist and turn and leave a defender in bits.

Think it was under wadsworth when he was towards end of his career here and still injury prone.

Wadsworth loved the 1 up front and being defensively solid (with sweeney just behind) and we were about 10x better when brown was fit and that lone striker. Massive shame how not only one but 2 cruciate injuries ruined what was surely destined to be a career much higher than pools. He wasn't quite as talented as boyd but had that extra yard of pace which I think would of stopped boyd in his peak reaching the top.

The friendly against Leeds for Barron's testinmonial when we had a front 3 of brown, Boyd and Porter shows how far we have fallen when you compare it to recent times.

Craig Harrison would of royally fooked that Wadsworth team up. Porter would of been at left back for a start.

Football simple game , just score more at one end than you concede at the other.Wadsworth couldn't get the balance right between being hard to beat and winning games ( especially home games ). Some great results during that period and some right thumpings as well. A strange time. Still think sacked too early, shows the ambition the club had even then.

The game he did his cruciate for the 2nd time he was easily outshining a young Adam Lallana up until his injury. After that we lost momentum, and Lallana stole the show.

Brown was a stunningly good player.

Hard to believe now , its only recently we held our own against Southampton sides containing likes of Lambert, Schneiderlin , Fonte and Oxade Chamberlain.

Still remember Stelling on Sky sticking his (black and proud) James Brown doll on his desk when our James Brown scored one of his last goals for Pools.

From that to "Dave Jones, get out of our club" seems like no time at all really.

Id take that Plymouth striker than Ronnie travelled the full length of the country to watch in a reserve game to be honest.

Messi and Ronaldo have none. So he is better than them combined.
