Pools 2-1 Gateshead, provided Harrison has learned how to use substitutes and gets fresh legs on for the later stages.

With my Nostradamus-like uncanny ability to forecast the scores it would be grossly unfair on the betting company for me to plump for 1-0.

There would be an outcry.

3-0 to Pools, all penalties for handball by the big centre half they've got on their badge.

Uncannily quiet about the game on here - has the Bunker been down for a few hours or something? Think I'll have a go with the 5 things we learned today bollocks:

1. Keith Watson is a superhero. Not only did he score twice, he lasted the full 90 minutes after being out injured for 4 months.
2. Nicky Deverdics is one of Pools' best players, but Harrison has to stop playing him at left back. The opposition is targeting him every time he plays there now, and getting goals from it.
3. Looks as if the off the field shit is getting to a few players. Michael Woods was either carrying an injury today or he's lost heart. Worst I've ever seen him play in a Pools shirt.
4. Pools now 10 points off the play offs and 10 points off the drop zone. The first part of that sentence is the astonishing bit.
5. That's 2 points taken out of a possible 18 in the last 6 games. Relegation form - but hey, we've started another unbeaten run!

Have to say I thought Cassidy and Rodney were quality today full of energy and fight, Ledger solid. Watson say no more,Donnelly tried but had little support, the rest were still in hangover mode.

Agree with most of that.

Special award for Craig Harrison leaving two clearly spent players on the pitch, who had to resort to lying down to get him to notice. And then bringing on Simpson for Cassidy who in my opinion had his best game in a pools shirt, he just needs some support.

He won the ball in the air about 15 times today and there was no one running in or around him so it had to go to the wing.

Pools are giving away goals late in games against even PT clubs. The fitness of so called full time professional players has to be questioned as does the manager's use of substitutes. Bringing on forwards with 5 minutes to go is clearly a case of 'stable door management'. Harrison has to go before relegation becomes a reality.

Every single game 3 or 4 of our players are out on their feet. Their either over trained or just not fit enough.

I didn't bother going yesterday, spent the afternoon taking Christmas decorations down instead which was probably much more enjoyable.

We can't even win when we play half decent, that's what worries me. Hard to believe this team got what now seem credible draws at Macclesfield and Wrexham earlier in the season. Those points could be crucial at the end of the season. Now then, who is it we play in our last game?

You can probably count on one hand the amount of times he has played as an attacking central midfielder since he joined the club. I can remember an away game against Notts County where he played there and played well. He also played there in the 3-0 away win at Grimsby. Other than that I'm struggling. He's been shifted out to left wing, left forward, left back, left of a diamond, left in a midfield two for all of his Pools career.

I agree that playing him at left back is wrong. Home fans at Dover couldn't understand why the mid fielder was being played out of position. Deverdics played mid field and captained the Dover side that reached the play-offs. Just one of Harrison's many useless decisions!

Who else would you have picked to play left back given the injury situation and the first choice left back was suspended? Deverdics started the last match in midfield on Boxing Day.

Deverdics probably needs a run of game in midfield , as far as I'm aware he hasn't , just either started then subbed or came on as sub and went midfield, that cant help, but generally he has been poor in midfield when I have seen him. Maybe that season at Dover was a one off, or better players around him. Personally I don't think we have the right sort of players to accommodate Deverdics in midfield , but he certainly isn't a left back. May as well of kept Dan Jones.

He wasn’t a left back either!!

I reckon over the last 20 years it’s the position we’ve ‘filled in’ most at with out of position players whilst always having at least 7 right backs.

Didn't Sweeney play a full season at left back? Or was it right back?

He did play there though didn't he? was a CB ideally though, though think we possibly had better more experienced CB at the time.

He did but I always thought he really struggled especially with his distribution his best spell was left of three Centre Backs under Ronnie Moore which incidentally was Scott Harrison’s best run of form as well, David Mirfin was organising things in the middle of them which may have helped mind!

It doesnt matter who we sign, we are left and right back cursed, we could have 14 right backs on the books, but we will end up playing someone out of position.

I thought he was steady away myself. I will always give a young player lots of rope if they show promise. They should be given a run in the team though. Jones was another one who was in and out, playing in different positions etc. I agree though he was best on the left in a back 3.

Wouldn't be surprised if the same fate befalls Kenton Richardson.

Wasn't totally convinced Haslam was a left back, but thought he was. Robson played left back or certainly as a wing back. Didn't Austin play left back in some games?
