Found one out, in an old Mail, they'd do a feature each night leading up to Xmas with something like, DO ALL YOUR XMAS SHOPPING AT THE BRUS SHOPS. What you'd have bought for family and friends at the Brus shops I haven't got a clue.

Looking pretty festive here Snowy. Just at the Green Grocers you get a turnip for the kids to share, a carrot for each of your friends and some lovely sprouts for the whole family to enjoy on the big day.

There was a hardware shop that sold bikes as well.

Struggling for anything else, maybe a nice hairstyle at Ruby Joe's and some aftershave from RT Platt's chemist?

Yes it was not bad at all I just had a bad experience in the brus pub. Housing was of exceptional quality. I went to dyke house and had great friends.....holding up ok too?

There's worse places in the town. Mind I would say that as I was born unexpectedly early at my grans house in Winterbottom Avenue.

Funnily enough, I thought about that later and apart from some foo foo powder at the chemists, they were all getting an apple, orange and a puncture repair outfit each from the hardware shop.
Just a thought, but how long can you keep patty and chips with scraps warm for if you bought them on Xmas Eve, Xmas dinner solved! clappp

You could do all of your xmas shopping at Charlies, Duke St and do it on Christmas Day because it opens.

I remember a cracking advertising board at the Cricket Club for Charlie’s that said it was ‘only five minutes walk’ Usain Bolt couldn’t run it in five minutes, you would struggle to drive the distance in five minutes.

Used to love Spaldings next to Charlies. Proper chips in beef dripping served in newspaper. Portions were huge too.

Christmas in Yakkerland was going on the TMS with me mam to Binns in Hartlepool or Stockton market.

There was nothing worth having that couldn't be bought at one or the other.

It’s only about 1km, which is well doable running (not walking like).
