These are now becoming available in the UK. Perhaps next 5th November these should be the norm with public and private displays been accompanied by loud synchronised music.........Black Sabbath or the Spice Girls take your pick!

Spice Girls for me like

Thought we'd escaped, but our neighbour invited his friends and family around for his annual extravaganza. it went on that long I got a call to go to Port Clarence and when I got back it was still in full swing. Where he got them from( military surplus?) I haven't got a clue as the bangs where shaking people's Windows. Sad thing is by then everyone had gone indoors and he was alone in the garden recreating shock and awe and pissing everyone off. Ban it.

has a german shepherd years ago that used to hide in the wardrobe in complete fear on bonfire night. i think anyone who saw his behaviour might think twice about trying to re create the battle of stalingrad in their gardens.

Celebrating something that never happened several hundred years ago.
Why not go the full hog and organise a ducking stool, a hang drawing and quartering which would be more appropriate in this case, followed by a burning at the stake and top it off with a few heads on sticks...
All good clean fun.

The UK should adopt the same approach as in the Northern Territory, Australia.

Fireworks are illegal to buy and own except for one day a year (Territory Day) when you can blow yourself and your money up to your hearts content.

Always a good night when it came around and ensured there wasn't weeks before and after of fireworks every night.

This also generally kept everyone happy, whether you liked them or not.

Sounds a sensible compromise. The problem here is you can buy them nearly all year and the fireworks starts at least a week before the 5th.

When I was younger I thought fireworks were great. Then I grew up.

Not improved by the fact that when I went out to the car a rocket the size of a scud was a foot from the drivers door.

Celebrating a defeat of religious terrorism.
Sounds fair game to me.
They seem to have firework nights about once a month here. Just when you weren't expecting them.
