witnessed at any Pools game you attended over the years sctatchinghead I am trying to remember a few like winning away to Aldershot 1-6 ? and loosing at home to Plymouth 0-8 ? loosing away at york 7-1 ? I have a distant memory of playing at home to Doncaster who filled the millhouse stand and I believe topped the league around mid season. Anyway from what I remember we were 0-3 at halftime and I believe we went on to win 4-3 sctatchinghead whatever the score was Doncaster fell apart that season and missed out on promotion sctatchinghead I have seen 8 goals in a Pools game but I could have missed a obvious one.

We beat Marine 6-3 in an FA Cup replay, possibly in 1976? Cue MJ

The one where the mighty Denis Behan scored a free kick in a 3-0 away win at oldham

His goal was that good it counted as 9 goals

Can anyone beat eleven (and against league opposition besides)?
I can't but I refer the honorable Mr Zone to a recent thread:

They made a video of the Grimsby game... which I still have somewhere (but nothing to play it on!)

The 8-1 win against Grimsby (03/04) and 8-1 defeat against Plymouth (93/94) are the most I've ever seen in one game at the Vic. I missed the ridiculous match against Wrexham.

Away from home I think the 6-0 win against Gainsborough in the FA cup is the most I've seen in one game.

Yeah home the mad Wrexham game for me, away is a tough one. Seven could be my highest for that I saw us win 4-3 at Wycombe including a Hugh Robertson free kick and I also saw us lose 6-1 at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

4-6 Wrexham at home and 4-3 Peterbrough away for me.

That Wrexham game was possibly the most depressing game iv witnessed.

I was at the 10-1 defeat of Barrow. We were winning 7-0 at HT. Could that be a record HT score??
We also lost 10-1 away to Wrexham, a game in which Ernie Phythian scored a hat trick against us, I think.

It was certainly a bizarre game but God it wouldn't be in my top 100 depressing ones. We had Boydy and Joel playing some great stuff and while some out defending was erm.. suspect Juan Ugarte was a class above League One.

Most depressing? We've had several recent candidates Barnet at the back end of last season? Flyde this? Compared to that game some of the garbage we have watched in the last five years is like a different sport. I reckon the most depressing result I can remember was another high scorer (well for the opposition) in about October 1989 Bob Moncurs Pools sat bottom of the Football League and had a crucial six point pointer at home to second bottom Doncaster. Hartlepool United 0 Doncaster Rovers 6. Now that was depressing

You mentioned 3 games, what were the other 97 games which were more depressing?

Close, mate. It was Phythian's immediate predecessor at Wrexham.

Wyn Davies, Ron Barnes and Roy Ambler scored hat tricks. Davies was a teenager at the time and attracting a few scouts. That game was his last for Wrexham, as Bolton had seen enough and paid £20,000 plus Phythian for his services a few days later.

Cheers John, not as good on the stats as I once was.
On the Barrow 10-1, is a HT of 7-0 a Pools record??

Yes followed by a protest behind the rink end goal. I was sat in the Mill House Stand but was so pissed off at the end I joined the protest which lasted for about half an hour with fans refusing to leave. Definitely most depressing for me alongside Fylde.

I was working at Garlands at the time and my shift finished at 4, I think it was 2-1 at half time so it was worth the half I watched!

The 8-1 against Grimsby was the highest I have seen at home & the 4-3 win at Peterborough the highest away.

I was also at other games mentioned, the 7-1 against Swansea, the 0-6 defeat to Doncaster & the after match protest.

I can also remember us beating Crewe 6-2 at home in 1980/81 I think, we were 5-1 up at half-time.

Yes, Swansea again I'm afraid. April Fool's day 1978 at the Old Vetch 0-8. I think one of my worst mares was the opening home game of the 1978/79 season at home to Donny. In brilliant sunshine kicking towards the Town End first half, Pools pasted them and went in at the break 3-1 up. They collapsed the second half and Donny won 3-4. Is there anything worse than losing your unbeaten home record first game? I suppose there is but at the time it was gut wrenching.

5-3 away at Peterborough. Should have been more, Foley had a goal chalked off for some reason, no-one had any idea why.

I often wonder if he would have gone on to score more in the league if that one had been allowed.

As i remember the dugouts were on the Mill House side and Turner after hearing the comment turned and laughed as did most of the crowd in the area......classic !
