To stay in touch with the top teams, beating mid/lower table teams at home is essential so out of sheer necessity we must win.

A highly entertaining 0-0 with one outstanding shot on target a worm burner from 35 yards. Followed by some words of wisdom from Craig Harrison about playing four up front.

Tranmere are the lowest scorers in the entire division so far but they haven't conceded many either.

This could be an exceedingly grim game of football!

Featherstone will be back to play alongside Donnelly in a covert attacking formation to confuse the shit out of everyone including us. Woods seems to play better alongside Featherstone.

Simpson in for Rodney for a better attacking threat

And we'll cruise to a 0-0

5-4 victory, BillinghamPoolie1908 to moan about how poor we are defensively and how this perceived turnaround in results is a myth because we are too gung ho and will get destroyed by better teams.

Being a Sunderland fan I don't get to many games but I have an excellent record over the last few years on my sporadic visits to the Vic. I'm there tonight so don't worry lads!

Yep, Rodney is stealing a wage with his 'scored one made one' in his last two appearances.

Let's play Simpson for a nailed on hat trick.

While we're at it, let's give Ryan Catterick a try in goal. That Scott Loach has conceded in each of his last 3 games. Disgraceful!

D'oh, I'd been playing FM2017 (Rennie [20 year old attacking right winger] is top scorer and Pools are leading L2).

That's a bit of an over reaction. Who said he's stealing a wage??

I just think Simpson will provide a better option than Rodney who I do believe has been largely disappointing this season. Seems to lack confidence and conviction and seems too easy to play against.

The Scott Loach comment!!!! Maybe you could calm down a little.

He's scored and had an assist in his last two games. With a bit more self belief he will be the direct opposite of easy to play against.

He's a kid at the end of the day he needs backing and the fans to get right behind him as I definitely think he has something. Young Simpson is probably only a bad 45 minutes away from getting the same shit off the people who need a target who are currently getting on Rodney's back.

I'm not on Rodney's back. I agree there is something there it just isn't happening consistently yet. I just think Simpson would be better against Tranmere's big defenders tonight

They are different types of players, if Simpson plays in will be for Oates as he can play only through the middle. Rodney can interchange between wide and up front. McNulty is as fat as butter but can win headers all day surely we're better get round his sizeable girth with pace?

I know they are different that was my point and reason for suggesting a change.

The Sutton defenders were equally large in both height and girth and Rodney was largely ineffective against them. He doesn't run at people or unsettle these types of defenders, and we lack a threat in the air to benefit from Deverdics and Franks delivery. Oates works hard and does put people under pressure, at the moment a lot more than Rodney, so can play the left of the 3 with Franks on the right.

For me Oates has been hopeless whenever he plays in the wide positions but does ok through the middle. I'd either play him there or not at all.

Oates for me hasn't ever had even a decent game for Pools when he plays in a wide position. Especially wide left. His position is through the middle, I'd either play him there or not at all.

Could I point you in the direction of our goal against Sutton by the way

Not a bad half, best chance an Oates diving header well saved by keeper.

A sub has just walked round onto the pitch and told the keeper to go down injured at the next opportunity and then he did it the next time he got opportunity what's that all about from anyone there? Mark Simpson is going mad.

The Middle East has been here for ages.

It finished 1-1 they missed a good chance right at the end, we seemed to play well in spells but probably fair according the commentary.
