Our lasses car went in for its service at the main dealers and she gave them my phone number in case any 'problems' came up and inevitably, they did.
New tyres on the front. Sadly, they gave me a quote for two tyres they'd fitted the previous year and the car had only done 8,000 miles which I informed them of, the man thought on his feet and said then told me oops it was the back tyres. No thank you.
Next was the suspension ...... a really silly price. When I pointed it out, he said it was for 'fitting'...... Well I knew it would'nt fit itself. No thank you.
Best of all, was work which needed to be done and the car shouldn't leave the place till it was corrected, at a silly price and if it wasn't I'd have to sign for it as carnage would ensue ifI drove if off the forecourt. No thanks.
Give the bloke his due he was a trier and when turning to pick up the car after it's service he still tried to book us in fro the work he was far from happy when I told him it was booked somewhere else to confirm the problems. Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeez.

I have had similar experiences, Audi being the worst offenders, you could guarantee a phone call after dropping the car off about this that and the other needs doing, Audi recommended etc.
The worst one being my discs and pads needed replacing, the lady said I wouldn't recommend you drive long distances, the car was only 3 years old, no thank you.
I complained about the call, fear factor, I was asked to take the car back, a second opinion from the Manager, nought wrong with them.
MOT at Halfords later sailed through, they was bit of corrosion on the discs but we cleaned it off, it also passed the MOT the next 2 years.

They will belong to trade organisation report them!! those people will rip off people who trust... "the judgement, as they are a main dealer".

Thing is, if a person doesn't know much about cars, the fear element creeps in and they feel they'd better take no chances and have the work done.....just to be safe. Ker-ching!.

My BMW is serviced by Coopers of Teesside..honestly, never had better service or interaction with a Main Dealer in my life. First Service a few months back, dropped car in, went for a run around Preston Park, got back, said it would be 10 more minutes, got a SAUSAGE SARNIE!!!!!! (Yup!) cuppa tea and my car back all within an hour and a half.

Had the Bentley in the other day and they said I needed the brake pipes renewing.

Cheeky bastards had obviously forgotten they had changed them for me just 6 months ago.

I have to establish a route every time, as my Ferrari struggles with speed bumps!
