The FA Cup officially ended on 9/8/17 in my little world!

I think to add to Mr Chip's post, at this stage the competition is still regionalised to cut down on travel costs etc.

So Chip mentions Truro City 8 miles or so from where I live. If it happens then of course I want Pools to win but will play in front of about 4 or 500. How the mighty have fallen. What happened to the days when the streams of people came off the train coach and car to Portman Road Ipswich or down the Coronation Street cobbles to Maine Road Manchester? The beer in the glass has settled and you are where you are I suppose. Got to hope that Pools at least get into the proper round and at least go out then as normal. Pools the Manure of the lower leagues. Who would have thought it?

The thing I dread most is getting a reputation as non-league giant killers. The start of the slippery slope.

I’m hoping for Truro in Round 1 as it’s only 10 miles down the road. It’ll be a surreal day out if nothing else.

Lovely little city , the cathedral is hemmed in making it near impossible to get a decent pic of it ...lovely , if expensive , proper pastie shops .....that's about it

Seems like there are a few south west based Poolies, me too, though not as far down.

Are you sure still regionalised, as Banbury was a fair distance for Shildon to go to?
Or is the ignorance of the FA, as everything north of Watford is the North!

The North/South division traditionally fell on the shoulders of Walsall.
But unless I'm mistaken we've already had clubs like Colchester in the Northern group in certain minor cup competitions.

Suppose they have to keep the two sides even so it should really be Most Northern and Most Southern. Suspect the dividing line will be gradually moving further south given the imbalance in levels of affluence.

Did anyone listening think it was strange how there were only 28 teams in the north and 36 in the south?

Wonder if ours will be chosen to stream on the BBC. They choose a game each qualifying round.

Come on then John, our last result against South Shields? (or any other club with an identical name).

We just don't cut the Mustard since the Mordue triplets and Darkie Errington left.

I'd go for this one, Boxing Day 1929...

http://www.inthemadcrowd.co.uk/UI/Match.aspx?oid=734

They moved to Gateshead the following summer. Our first match against Gateshead featured eight of that last South Shields lineup. We've played North Shields since then in the FA Cup but we've never played another competitive game against South.

We have actually played a South Shields team in the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round before. We lost 1-0 at the Vic in 1913.

I'd go for 31/01/17 when they turned us over 3-0 in the Durham Challenge Cup.

That's a reserve/youth team fixture.

'Us' you're from South Shields aren't you?

No, not a South Shields supporter, I just think that if us, (a Hartlepool supporter), decide to put out or interpret that game as minor fixture, then we are no different to big teams playing under strength teams further on in the FA Cup. If teams treat competitions with contempt, they do so at their peril.

It's dinner.

We need to lose this lower working class language.

The bunker is upmarket.

We have lunch and dinner now.

Do people actually eat dinner (working class variety) these days apart from maybe Sunday. And anyway, who the hell says "Sunday lunch"?

Seeing as your asking. 1730 slice of chicken and mushroom pie, with a few chips (sacrilege-not a great fan). Followed by a small individual toffee cheesecake, followed by a cup of tea and chocolate biscuit. Got to think of the figure you know. And that for me is TEA!

Learned years ago to just accept what the Boss puts on the table. I'm all for a quiet life. Anyway back to the FA Cup. Believe it or not I was in Solihull this morning, but fortunately or unfortunately it wasn't for the football! A long standing family occasion was the reason. I see South Shields had a good win away in the Trophy qualifying round today. More impressive was stated their last 54 games have been W 52, D1, L1. Quite a record to be up against next Saturday. What are peoples thoughts. A draw is my unqualified opinion.

How can you not wear socks?

What do you even come on football forums to talk about, if not socks?

Can’t even work out why he’s here tbh
