I've seen a few comments on here but more so on the Facebook having a go at Luke George about his injury problems, calling him a crock and what not. I understand it's frustrating that we're nearly in October and he hasn't played yet, but I want to put things in perspective.

It sounds to me based on what I've read that he's suffering from a flare up of plantar fasciitis/tendonitis which is an issue with the arches of the feet and often calf-related problems too. As someone who gets it from time to time and is going through a flare up right now (triggered by playing for the Supporters Trust in the wrong type of boots for the surface funnily enough), I know how painful and debilitating it can be. Imagine waking up every morning in absolute agony and being unable to walk - this is most mornings for me at the minute. Stretches, rolling a golf ball across the flat of your foot, orthotics, hot/cold packs etc. do help but they're not a magic wand. I'm still attempting to play football but I have to manage how much I play and I would say I'm only 80% during the games due to the pain. It's slowly getting better but it takes time. Jordan Henderson suffered badly for it a few seasons ago to the point I think he missed nearly half a season.

My point is, if this is the issue he is suffering then give the lad time. Just because it's not a broken leg or a torn ACL doesn't mean it's not serious. You could say maybe we should have known about it but it's not that simple - this is my first flare up in about two and a half years. I hope he can overcome and get back to fitness but it might be a longer road than people think.

Some of the comments are absolutely pathetic and highlight the 'intelligence' of some of our fans. The lad hasn't even kicked a ball for us and he's being ridiculed. I think Mark Simpson put something on the website the other day to show his rehabilitation is going as a result of some of the cringeworthy shite that's been put online about him. Do people think the lad wants to be injured?

Frustration at signing somebody who has spent the last 2 seasons with the same issue and we think it`s a good idea to sign him :ugeek:

Maybe the fact he hasn't played yet is because they are trying to cure the injury long term rather just manage it as maybe he's done for the last two years? He's a young lad and it's hardly career threatening.

Would you buy a car without a service history and knew it was going to be in the garage for the first 6 months?

If I recall, didn't he play a number of pre-season games before this set in? As I said before, you don't know when this is going to flare up. He may well have been completely fine before then. Keith Watson has a career blighted by injury, should we have not signed him just on the off-chance he might get injured again?

But the last 2 years were blighted by injury, he was the midfield bite we needed and he has no teeth!

I think the point PJ is correctly putting across is that the lad isn't pissing about and being injured out of choice. If we have made a mistake in signing him then fair enough but it's not George's fault, so the personal abuse aimed at him is nothing short of pathetic

I get the point, some of the fb users are not that intelligent though and will resort to that type of criticism, it isn`t fair but it happens.

So you've just taken the opportunity to continue to get in digs at PJ then.

Surely if you get it you'd have agreed more overtly with his comments rather than make crap analogies about used cars and toothless bites

How is it a crap analogy about the car? we buy a player with a history of injury and spends the first third of the season injured, how would you put it, in your non confrontational, sensitive way?

think in the real world if you had a bad sickness record at your job it would go against you if you applied for another one. not insensative but true.

That's an even worse analogy than Monkeybutt's!!

You can't beat comparing ever day jobs to sport, it's ridiculous. Unless Dave from accounts had six weeks off after a heavy challenge from Wendy on receiption......

As I've said previously, he played 24 games last season, 23 the season before, and 43 the one before that. 100 games in three seasons, doesn't give me the impressive of somebody who's always injured.

24/23 games is poor tbh considering there's 46 games in a season never mind cup games

He had a six game ban in October 2016, so that would probably have been 30 games last season.

Just seen the videos, I like his attitude.

He may well be an asset to the team

If I was working in a small company or factory unit and someone had been employed to work alongside me and had been on the sick all along I'd be pretty pissed off

I know football is different but to be paid to go out on the field and work your socks off with all of the abuse that's goes with it, compared with being photographed in a wheely bin full of ice ....

Bresslaw always seems pretty pissed off whatever is going on. Bins of ice or bins of rubbish, people regularly off work or always at work, mediums offering cheap clap testing, nothing makes him less pissed off. Except for not going to Pools and enjoying a funny handshake from a man in a pinny with with a trouser leg rolled up. He loves those two things.

plenty of players playing in all leagues who are injury prone for one reason or another. just like the guy at work who,s always on the sick. different industries but still their jobs and puts extra pressure on those that work or play with them.
