My mate at work is a keen photographer and has taken quite a few of the Tommy statue, these are probably two of the best. There's loads more here

Thank God for that, I thought there was something up with the car.
Try going down into the dock towards the pier next time, it's canny down there.
The Tommy figure is really impressive, I came across the one our council put in for the bombardment next to the Heugh lighthouse, it looks like an off cut from a kitchen fitters skip, hidden behind the sub station. Pathetic block of unimaginative crap.

My humble apologies. Not a fucking clue what happened there.

But I can confirm they are stunning.

I knew two years ago that The Colonel isn't a photography expert, but a gadgie on York Road told me they were stunning.

Even that statue they were only supposed to be looking after it for someone for 10 minutes and ended up robbing it.

The statue "1101", known locally as "Tommy" was originally on loan but became a permanent fixture after a committee of local residents raised £67,000 of the £85,000 needed to buy it, the town council made up the £18,000 balance. The £85000 was paid on 4 August 2014, the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The sculptor, Ray Lonsdale, had two offers already to buy the statue but agreed to give the residents time to raise the money.

Aye fancy including places in Seaham when looking at the size of Seaham. Crackers that like....

Not sure how paying the thick end of a hundred grand is robbing something either.

Mind you, we always cheat at Scrabble. Cheating Seaham Scrabble c u n t s they call us. I once nicked an S off the board when nobody was looking and made CRAZES with the S on a triple word score on my next turn. Heh heh, pure c u n t e r y.

I lived there for 12 years and any top ender down the harbour view usually got a bit of stick like.

The harbour and marina are nice enough, then everything in between there and Westlea is a shithole. Dalton Heights is nice as that's where I lived.

Eastshore village is full of pretentious fuckers mortgaged to the hilt as well, a bit like Bishop Cuthbert.

Sounds like it's changed. Me dad was a field probation officer covering that area in the 80s and it sounded comparable to Beirut.
