Whats the best dinner/lunch meal you've ever had?

Free buffet at work?

Something you knocked up yourself?

Something a loved one or friend made for you?

Even a meal deal you got from the Morrisons.

Morrisons did a meal deal for Father's day where you got 10 chicken bites, 3 mini fillets, 5 wings of fire, wedges/cross cuts, and 2 dips for £4.

They'd ran out of wings when I got it though, so I got ribs of fire instead, result. I probably had a bottle of pepsi max too, can't remember the specifics of the whole meal.

That's the best lunch break that springs to mind, but I only get 45 minutes so I'm not sure if it qualifies or not?

Did you have to show the counter staff a pic of your kids ?

Went to the Australian pub in Porthmadog 2 weeks ago and I had one of the best lunches in a long time, Antipasti, it had cornichons, peppers, olives, sunblush tomatoes, bressaola, parma ham, salami 2 types, crusty bread, brie and drizzled with olive oil, it was superb and only 5.99.

I think its probably the time I basically took a large cheese board to work.

Was after christmas and had loads of cheese left over so took a wide selection of cheeses to work:

Smoked applewood chedder
Home made crumbly goats cheese with chilli
Extra hot chedder
Feta
Think was some Boursin too

Probably more I forgot

Anyway took a load of assorted crackers and some fresh bread from Morrisons (salt and pepper buns and a cheese baguette i seem to remember)

People in the office were hinting at having some but they got fuck all and i made sure i quickly binned everything that was left.

Think I took a bottle of Appletise too which was nice.

9/10.

Restaurant in Bubaneshwar whose name escapes me. Walked inside from the baking sun into the cool shade, top banana decor, Nimbu pani to cool off with followed by a silver-plated chicken Mumtaz to die for. An expensive 120 rupees but worth every anna.

The time some contractors I was working with took me to a Brazilian BBQ. Can't top that for lunch IMO, BBQ'd meat brought to your table until you ask them not to.

Years ago I helped my sister out when she was doing a photoshoot in Nottingham for Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine. One of the places she had to shoot was in the top restaurant in the city centre. We got a free plate of monkfish something and it was fucken LUSH!

Kit Kat chocolate isn't very nice these days in my opinion. Neither is Cadburys.

Correct Mr PiN, I lived in York when Rowntrees sold to Nestle. Nestle fucked up all of Rowntrees hard work. Fruit pastiles went from flavoursome with a sugar sprinkling to the fucking rubbish and much harder Nestle version with sugar sort of forming part of the jelly bit....the Rowntrees version had a definite two parts..the jelly bit with sugar on top....you could suck the sugar off the Rowntrees pastiles and leave a perfectly pastiles shaped jelly bit, you can't do that with the poor Nestle excuse for a fruit pastile.

And don't even talk to me about Nestle chocolate. Absolute dog shit.

Should the black midget gem be liquorice or blackcurrant?

Really not a fan of liquorice but can accept the argument that black midget gems should be liquorice. I was always gutted when the bag was half full of black ones though....or should that be half empty of coloured ones? Suppose it depends how positive or negative you're feeling

We were in the work canteen and, for some reason, Graeme Le Saux was on the table behind us. Apparently he lived near where I used to work.

I think I had an omelette and it was pretty decent. Dunno what he had.

So, there is that.

Every day at Steetley when staff could have a five course meal of soup, choice of three main meals with veg, sweet (spotted dick etc), cheese and biscuits and finally coffee or tea with a biscuit.
Cost = zero

And that was after a bacon or sausage bun at 10am for next to nothing.10p.

:-D

Yeah , you can't whack a good FISH PIE for lunch. This post has made me realise how may liquid lunches I used to have, wasn't big on the lunch thing at work, always been a 2 meals a day man myself, breakfast and then tea after work.

When I worked in Seaham, in the middle of nowhere, not a pub for miles, there used to be a van used to be permanently parked outside were I worked , that sold curries ,chillies, cheeseburgers , bacon rolls etc, the curry and chips were to die for, and cheap as well , so that's mine.

Used to enjoy dinners at Tunny tbh.

Usually consisted of a slice of pizza so greasy it came with a paper towel to mop some of it up and some soggy chips but was rather enjoyable.

Café round the corner from College of FE, top end of Church St. Used to go there at lunch time and frequently saw Pools players tucking into chip butties. Probably around 1981'ish.
Massive chip butties they did like.

A few months ago I was at a meeting hosted in a community centre in Leicester. They had Pakistani caterers and they knocked up mountains of amazing curries, samosas, bhajis, breads, rice dishes etc.

They were expecting about three times the amount of attendees, so even though I made a complete pig of meself, there was still loads left over, most of which went to the homeless centre, and the remnants I bagged up for our lass and the bairns' tea. I still dream about it to this day.

I'm a professional so no sharpeners at work, just fat vape clouds.
Now when 4 o'clock Friday afternoon rolls around, its another story - sharpeners galore.

Massive off topic but I have always wondered how people remember threads from years ago...in this case a year....it must surely have been buried deep in the Bunker annals?

Do you all have a dogs bollocks memory or do you go through page after page of threads?

My memory is absolute dogshit.....that'll be the drugs...

When I was at college day release I used to go the Chinese in Church Street (Hong Kong Garden?) for their lunch special, it was about a quid for a three course lunch way back in 1973, soup like wallpaper paste, a curried something or other and a banana fritter.

There’s a few classic threads that can get brought up easily by searching key words from it.

Type in Ricky Martin or Carlisle jacket may return n you’ll see what I mean.
