With the AGM to be held in the coming weeks, now is your opportunity to find out first hand what is involved with being a HUST Board member and why becoming a HUST member is the only way to ensure fan representation in the Club.
As required by the HUST constitution up to 4 members of the Board will step down at the AGM, though they will be entitled to seek re-election and this is your opportunity to ask the questions you want of the Board of Directors.

My question(s), re the above are Why 4 members and not all? Can't find a copy of the constitution on HUST site which will have the answers? Not being funny, Ha Ha or argumentative, but would like to find out the reasoning behind the constitution (re elections) etc. I am aware that the constitution is probably based on a National model, but am just curious. Again, apologies (to all) if this is going over old ground.

Yours, confused, The Metropolis.

Is there any basic requirements to be on the board?

Like

1. Putting together coherent sentences
2. Being able to spell
3. not being involved in any previous rarfery

We must have standards.

You mean "Are there any basic requirements", not "is".

I'd love to be involved, as i love the work the trust does, and believe in it massively, just not sure i have the time and dont wanna take on a role i cant give my all too.

With a wife, 3 kids and a new college course starting next week i can barely fit in anytime for anything else.

I will continue to attend all functions, race nights, meetings etc etc and support them with my time, wallet, and as always batting away the bizarre naysayers.

Thanks Mr C Fireball esquire for a well constructed response. I found it very enlightening, and have enjoyed the other responses also. However is the TRUST constitution, based on a generic constitution from the Supporters TRUST or elsewhere? I appreciate Chips comment regarding the reasoning for elections, but again ask why? What is the reasoning? I really don't want to appear to be a negative Nora, or owt, (I am a member and fully support the TRUST) but can't get my head around it at the mo!

Apologies, Mr Thicko, the Metropolis.

The short answer in terms of why is to force new ideas through and not let the same people run it year after year. This is a generic answer and its based on a wide variety of Trusts but its on the advise of SD as the constitution is their template.

It goes along with the whole ethos of OMOV and an inclusive organisation. If you bring new blood in regularly then new ideas come along with them.

Don't know if this helps Mr Bishop-

I like the half up for re-election this year and the other half next year approach because it keeps things democratic and allows new ideas but also keeps enough continuity to avoid a full restarting period after every election.
