Clocked up appearances for Pools, York and Darlo in 13 months. This has to be a record of sorts!

Come to think of it, are there any other players who ever played for the 3 South Durham-North Yorkshire ex-league clubs?

I suppose Scarborough should really be added to the list; like Darlo they still exist (after a fashion) as Scarborough Athletic.

I know I am going to get slaughtered for this but...... I'd have him back at Pools.

Why? He couldn't cut it for York in this division and couldn't get in the Darlo team.

He played a full season at a club in this division last year and scored two goals.

He's uttter bobbins, possibly the most over rated Pools player ever, his general play is of Northern League standard.

Id have him back, straight off an all.
He lets opponents know they are there, and if played up front in 4.4.2. would do grand

Natural finisher.

I've never quite understood many people's criticism of Scott Fenwick. He wasn't going to set the world alight, but without him we'd have been relegated in 2014-15. He gave us some goals and bit up front when we had absolutely none.

If Ronnie Moore hadn't played him out of position and nullified any creativity we might have had from midfield, he'd have ended the 2015-16 season in double figures.

I don't want him back, but 'utter bobbins' and 'most overrated Pools player ever' is just silly talk.

And for the record Simon Walton is without a doubt the most overrated Pools player ever.

It's not criticism, as player he's just not up to standard you couldn't fault his effort or attitude. Away from home especially though it was like having ten men he was so far out of his depth.

Hardly anyone rated Walton did they apart from himself!? Again no fault of his own but in some quarters you'd have thought Fenwick was a modern day Dixie Dean.

If he wants to play for Pools again he'll come on here and alert us all to his availability and excellence.

How can you be sure he was keen if he didn't set up an account and post about himself?

Seemingly every home/away game I got to I would always be next to someone thinking Walton was god's gift. Some people did overrate Fenwick for sure, but at least he did something to merit praise in the first place.

All Walton had to do was ping a Hollywood pass to Evan Horwood into Row C, do a fist pump and shout at his defence after he lost possession in order to set the pulses of idiots around the ground racing.

Whilst not Waltons biggest fan he cannot have been that bad a player. He played in almost 300 league games and represented England at under 15,16 and 17s. He was one of those players who probably had natural ability as a youth but it went to his head.

I think he had a few big injuries along the way too, but he did appear to be one of those who thought he was better than he was.

Walton arguably has the best known knob in Pools' history, although I do believe there are other contenders.

Fenwick is in no way shape or form an answer to our problems.

Would like to see Andrew Nelson return to be honest, he looked a decent player to me and may do well wide in a front 3.

We could do with someone with a bit of pedigree and goal scoring record at this level preferably with a bit of pace to compliment Cassidy. Bowman would be ideal but that seems to have gone a little quiet.

After Saturday you would think Fenwick could be the answer. But going through York and Darlo in such a short time, tells you everything you need to know. Expect to see him at South Shields or Spenny next.

What do you base thinking Fenwick could the answer on out of interest Horden, I know a fair few have this view, I don't get what he'd offer?

I never said he was the answer, was speaking for a percentage of our support who think he may be. Gutsy and a bit of fight and aggression I suppose, but lacks the quality at this level as Darlo and York thought.

Scott Fenwick was an all right striker in a team that was completely pants, and was totally outshone by Hugil during his short time at the club. When he was partnered with less talented strikers and asked to do more of the work he was completely incapable of performing, and that form is yet to change.

Since that decent half a season with us, he was underwelming for half a season with us, couldn't get a game for Tranmere in the Conference, couldn't get a game for York in the Conference, and couldn't get a game for Darlo in the Conference North. I don't see why anyone would even contemplate having him here again.

That team Fenwick played in was like AC Milan of the late 80s compared to the rabble we have now. No wonder we struggled when Hugill was more interested in outshining Fenwick than playing for the team :angry-screaming: Joking apart, we don't want or need him back.

They knew he was there when playing for us, usually because the game had stopped because he was caught offside again.
To be fair to him I don't think he was given much of a chance once the season started but the chances he did get he didn't impress.

Bit off topic as usual but I was thinking last Saturday, during the Guiseley game, that we could do with Andy Monkhouse back. We could have done with someone like him to add a bit of composure to the team and give a bit of structure during the game. Too many occasions when the ball was hoofed up front without much thought to who or where the ball was going.

Yes mate. Big mistake to let him go a couple of years ago. Well in my opinion anyway.

He was a composed footballer, as in on the ball.

It's just he wasn't that composed when trying to fight the opposition and cause riots in the stands with the opposition fans.

A worky ticket and a good player, those were the days!!

I always felt with Fenwick he was so busy letting the centre-halves know he was there it appeared he was marking them, not the other way around...
