Amond won't lose any money over this. Even if pools can fine him (not clear it at all) are you seriously telling me that Newport won't have agreed to pick up any "out of pocket" expenses which enable Amond to leave more quickly (EDIT and more cheaply)

He has attitude has been dreadful.

He'll love it on Newport's pitch, he better get used to aerial battles.

Delighted if he walked out? The best striker we've had in years and we're happy if he just walks out? Those players would be happy? Why am I not surprised. Maybe we should look at the absolute shite he's having to play alongside for why his performance and attitude has dropped. Until last week we've been playing the poor bastard up front by himself. What more could he have done when Louis fucking Laing is clipping 50 yard balls to him up against the statue of fucking liberty. The man scored 14 goals for the second worst starting 11 I've ever seen in a pools shirt, and we want him to do even better playing alongside the worst?

He's not been trying. When up front against Maidenhead, he was sulking. He made it obvious in that match he wanted to leave.

If he doesn't want to be here, he doesn't want to be here.

He's put more effort in leaving than he has playing for us.

Nothing to get worked up about is it? I'm sure his intentions were honourable , though he probably shouldn't have said it.

Amond, he's got a contract and paid to do a job. Do it.

I'm one of those who thought the future was bright and couldn't wait for the season to start. I had no daft expectations but expected us to be in the top half challenging.
I'm spending my time gobsmacked at the incompetence before my eyes. I got worried when I saw our defence unveiled for the first game and the failure to bring in defenders who knew what they were doing.
We appear to have rebuilt a team over the summer to flirt with relegation, the standard is abysmal and there is just no passion, we appear to be on a conveyor belt to our own oblivion.
This is not what I expected. It has to be sorted.
As for blaming the fans, we turned out, season ticket sales held up and then this is served up. We didn't expect caviar football but didn't anticipate beans on toast either.

The Amond of the first part of his pools career , fantastic, great goals to game ratio in a sh*t team, playing as a lone striker. The Amond since March 2017, no better than Steve Howard. Clearly not happy, clearly wants to leave. We know from past experience with players at Pools, once in this situation, there is no happy ending. He will leave now, just a case of when, regardless of how good or bad people think he is.

If there are any others who feel the same way then Harrison should tell them to fuck off an all.

My thoughts all along regarding Amond, some waffle on about how much running around he does, really? I can,t ever recall him putting a tackle in or even trying to jump for a ball, if you want to see real effort look no further than Oates, that is 100% effort and we are missing him big style. Cassidy puts a shift in as well, be great to see him and Oates as the two up front.

Some people rate him, some dont.

What's clear is he doesn't want to be here and needs to go ASAP. Hopefully we'll get some money for him and I'd imagine he'll be on decent wages too which will be freed up.

So long as we bring a good striker for this level in then we'll be fine

How he got 90 minutes on Tuesday night is a mystery, his contribution was absolute zero - Cassidy carried him for most of the game. He spent most of the match doing his level best not to get injured by looking at their centre halves rather than the football.

As I was saying last week, if he wants out ( and his performances suggest he clearly does ) and another club are daft enough to take him, then let him fuck off. He has one goal from open play in his last 15 games and clearly thinks he can get one last decent payday on the back of one good season at Grimsby.

Better off getting another striker in like Cassidy that is at least prepared to graft, because that is what's needed in this league.

Well said that man the tosser can go and kiss another badge for a short while then another then the foooking dole. What a complete and utter wanker and insulting bastard.

Perhaps that is what Franks is for? I seem to remember he was much better in the centre and had a decent shot on him. With him, Rodney and Oates to help Cassidy an uninterested Amond will be best gone.

Now it's at this stage the sooner he goes the better. A good sign is that the club has not just caved in and accepted the first bid firesale mode. Doesn't suggest a club in crisis or owners desperate to get their money back immediately to me

He done it a cuntish way but can't fault him for wanting better quality of football at his age and a better wage.

Fair play to Pam and Craig for trying to keep hold of him and not accepting first offer like Coxall would have.

All good stuff, no loss and shows the club is heading in right direction in that we're not scraping for every penny anymore.

Can't imagine Harrison is too bothered after his showings this season anyway.

Just use of words, Harrison never said either of those things he said he had told him that 'he wasn't in the right frame of mind to play'

It amounts to the same thing really, good riddance.

Plot thickens, someone at Newport or Pools is telling porkies....

“We have been tracking Podge since we started our recruitment campaign but we thought the deal was dead when the first offer was refused. Hartlepool were understandably reluctant to let him go. To get a call out of the blue from Craig Harrison last Wednesday saying Padraig could go was a pleasant surprise. We worked on the deal over the weekend and I was delighted to get it over the line before the game yesterday.

“It’s great to get Padraig in. He will add goals and experience and is a great character around the dressing room. This deal also shows the Club is going in the right direction as we can sign a player for an undisclosed fee within the budget.”

No fucks given, we got money for a player who didn't want to play for us. Another 40k off Coxall's legacy.

There's a lot of bitter posts on social media, it will be boost for the rest of the team that they're not carrying him anymore and hopefully some of the money will be used to bring in a replacement with a heart moderately bigger than a pea.

Aye, can't say I'm bothered. Chuffed we got some cash in for him.

One good season a career does not make Mr Amond.

As we found out.

living on one good season at grimsby. at accrington he did score a few goals but some games you had to look round the field to see if he was on it. only saw him in a handful of pools games and don,t think he has changed much. not one for when the chips are down.

This. There are a few bang average strikers get a good season out of the blue, mainly due to getting lucky in the respect of the quality around them that season.

See Gary Jones at Notts County and Kevin Henderson here etc.

The ones who can create a goal on their own are the ones who can repeat it, those like Amond cant do that.

Newport County fan in peace I really do share your pain in where you are at the moment remember vividly going out of the league in 87/88 and then not completing the 88/89 season, we lost our club and had to restart in the Hellenic league in exile.
It took us 25 long years to get back and I really hope if doesn't take you any where near as long first started watching in early 68 and Hartlepools were one of the first games I watched been to the Victoria a few times proper club with proper fans mind you we lost on every visit.
Was hoping last season is was not between us and you and someone else could be drawn into the mix genuinely wish you all the best and hope we can meet in the near future in the football league.

Newport and Amond 2nd top of League Two, Pools 2nd bottom of the National League.

Evening all.
Also come in peace. Glad you boys got 3 points today.
Amond played well for us Saturday took his goal well and worked throughout the 90 minutes.
Nouble is something special and the pair will score a hatful for us this season
Just to let you know forget last years pitch as the new one is looking superb and we have at last a cracking manager in Flynny after some idiots Westley the worst of them.
Look out for your results and hope you bounce back as its early doors still.
Funny thing I thought we were in for Rodney but got that slightly wrong in that it was Amond.
All the best lads.

The energy shown in making and scoring those goals, more or less confirms he really was going through the motions during his last 6 months here.
