Fans , kicking off at Everton. Seems strange , that English fans are now like Zombies in a trance like state , yet foreign clubs are bringing mobs of hooligans over here , like we did in Europe in the 80s. In those days foreign away support numbered only hundreds, now its thousands. Hannover were at it in Burnley the other week. Is it the weak pound, increased standard of living in Europe, decreased standard of living here , the rise of far right nationalism on the continent or something else entirely?

Fuck all to do with the week pound or other bollocks. I think most fans in this country have finally matured and the game is more family orientated, it's grown up.
There's still dross but nothing like it was.
The European visitors are just daft lads discovering the joy of being fuckwits at matches allied with dirt cheap air travel.

If you think about it, fighting over the strength of the pound is more vaild and understandable, than fighting over a football match. It is certainly less pathetic.

The Hajduk Split "ultras" call themselves Torcida and are organised along quasi-military lines. Croatia is an ultra-nationalistic country in general, due in no small part to the Balkan conflict in the 90's, and their football fans are less interested in the game than they are in "taking on" other tribes, whether that be countries, clubs or towns. You wouldn't get me to the return leg for all the chips at the Vic.

Sensible poster alert ! What I was alluding too regards the strength of the pound, is that it makes it cheaper for the foreign hoolies to come to the UK. I wasn't saying they were actually fighting over that.

I know you would of understood that Mr Colonel

Even more sensible alert, there's been cheap flights for years.
Does politics affect everything in your life...?

Flights are not as cheap as they used to be, if they are, its because those with money get them cheap and those with less money take the hit.

Yes politics does affect everything in my life, doesn't it yours? you're unique if it doesn't .

Every election I hold my nose and mark the ballot paper. I have no loyalty to any party. I take the simple route of seeing what will benefit me and mine (and not in monetary terms) and reluctantly vote for them. I've voted for them all and been disappointed by them all.

Politics is like a sewer, it stinks, but we have to put up with it.
