Written off already and you haven't seen him play for a couple of years or more.

An absolute bollock of a signing which smacks of desperation. We really needed a left footed winger so he brings in another right foot!,and a shit one at that! I hope he proves me wrong but if he's anything like last time then he won't. I like most pools fans will be praying for a central defender now but it will probably end up being Nathan buddle!

He's the exact opposite of what we need at minute.

We need characters, leaders, winners.

We need a centre half.

I think we've all seen enough of him to make a fair judgement. Do you think he's likely to have improved dramatically in the last two years?

I've never forgiven him for the shithousery against Blyth, and all the times before that. Can't believe it.

Given the squad already in place, I don't see the point signing someone who isn't better, or at least a different type of player to what we already have and I don't see Franks doing that.

Come on lets give the lad a chance he is now a pools player and you never know we might just sign some other players.

Can't see how 2 years of being injured and sitting on the bench will have improved him any!

What were his comments when he left?

That he was too good for bottom of league 2 was it?

Bit of pace and direct running at least. A bit of a different option. Might be half decent at this level.

Agree with PJ. An experienced centre back, ideally a left footed one, should be paramount.

Not over the moon but must be on buttons given his lack of options and maybe he is better than some defenders he'll come up against. At this stage I see no benefit in being negative but he better be up for it!

Centre back though... ?!

I don't see an issue with adding extra competition for places. Some are saying he wouldn't get in the team ahead of Donaldson but he is also getting slated saying he can't beat a defender. Having options is never a bad thing and people have done a lot worse than saying that they want to better themselves and see themselves as higher than battling relegation every year, for personal development I can't blame him.

He's back now and we just need to get behind him and judge him on how he performs now, not years ago.

Saying that, I hope we can bring in a new CB to compete for places as well as a back up keeper. Can't see us bringing in another winger now so blackford may be worth a shot if we need him.

Personally if we are going with what we have I'd keep deverdics out on the left, at least it's balanced and he does have an eye for a pass.

WTF! Harrison can't be signing the players! No one is that stupid. He is exactly the sort of player we already have in abundance , very ordinary , heart size of a pea. I'm hope I'm there to see his one good game in 20. FFS! Doubt he would get a game for Darlo, Spenny or Blyth.

If he had improved , doubt he would be knocking on door of ex employer asking for a trial. He is probably worse than ever. It took him a month to convince Harrison to sign him. Smacks of desperation and club with not a pot to p*ss in. I doubt we will seeing a quality centre half any time soon.

I remember the feeling of joy I got when he left last time, it was the same feeling I had when Scott Harrison got released, one of those thank God moments! Now they are both gonna be in the same bloody team again and I have to put up with it as I'm blindly loyal!!!

he said he thought he was better than being at a club fighting at the bottom end of League 2, did he not?

Unsure as to why that doesn't count as him wanting to better himself?

I mean he wasn't better than an average league 2 player, anyone could have told him that.

May be we just need to see what he plays like when he is in the team and criticize from then on in stead of looking to the past.
When you look at the team at present and the amount of opinions that have been posted about Harrison in particular and yet we have played 4 games and the defence has only conceded just over 1 goal per game and we have been playing shocking as a whole.
I hope he comes good puts in some good wing play for the strikers to get on the end of in particular amond cos just may be he can be a good signing and we can put the past behind us.

I thought Franks was mediocre when he was here before.

But that is still better than what I witnessed on the box last week.

Our stock has certainly have fallen to an alltime low.

Sorry, but it's daft to say he's not Craig Harrison's choice. After Franks came to train with Pools CH said he thought he might offer the team something different. He played the one friendly against Whitley Bay, saw a lot of the ball down the right and linked up well with Cassidy. In other words, he didn't fail the audition and has presumably been doing ok in training.

I'm not sure in what universe re-signing Fransky is a priority, but all the evidence is that he's Craig Harrison's pick. May as well hope that it comes off!

Oh, and the interview with the manager about Cassidy on the OS makes it 100% clear that Cassidy was his pick.

It's a bad signing because it makes no sense. We need a centre back, we definitely don't need another midfielder, unless they are a left winger. Frank is a striker that can't score or a winger that can't cross. Don't see what the point is really, unless were paying him nothing.

We do need another midfielder , in fact we need around 4 , in particular a good attacking central midfielder, they just need to be decent . That's the problem , at the moment we have around 7 who are shi*e.

Then Harrison must be stupid then. The bit about Harrison not signing the players wasn't my opinion , it was sarcastically referring to a recent thread, where some posters on here said that was the case with players signed previously. Whether it was true is still unproven , but it cant be dismissed.

Donaldson for me isn't the player I thought he was going to be - hence why he got released from a good Plymouth side a suppose. So seeing Franks come in isn't the worst thing to of happened to the club in the last few weeks. hopefully he will challenge for a place and make Donaldson up his game a little. Or be an absolute weapon and start every week.. supply great balls into the box to give Podge his ammo and score 15+ himself (maybe not eh)...

I've only seen Blackford in his single home appearance, but where does he fit in? From the reports on here, he may be young but has pace, & Rangers were apparently interested in giving him trials.

I hope Franks comes good, but should Blackford be higher up the pecking order?

Looking at Pools' first four matchday squads you'd have to say that apart from Rodney the manager is not showing any interest in giving young players a look in, in the early stages of the season at least.

The players Pools have signed are all in their mid or late 20s.
