Any recommendations? Suppose the main question is , which pub/club has BT Sport

Watched a couple games in there and its okay , bit noisy, and this is a pools game, the others weren't. I'm a fussy git , so want real ale, good view , atmosphere but quiet with little noise, no queuing for drinks and a plentiful supply of CHIPS..

Don't expect real ale and I'm prepared to concede a couple of things on that list. I was drinking Holsten last time in the MH and it was a nice drink. The Park would be ideal as it serves Strongarm , but not sure if they got BT. The Centenary lounge will be a bit bland for my liking , but it helps the club out financially. Pearl Bar and Showroom full of rarfs, then there are the Workmens/Social clubs.

Be careful the working mens clubs might have bingo on at the same time, or worse, a turn.

Aye your right Colonel , I wouldn't take a chance on a club in the evening , but 1230pm should be okay, but then again , there's the racing to contend with!!!!

It has been known for these places to have 12:30 bingo on a weekend.

And a fucking tornado wouldnt stop it.

Normally I'd consider the sarcastic answer of Maidenhead to the question posed in the thread title but having seen pictures of the ground it isn't actually the best place to watch the match on Saturday.

To be fair to Maidenhead's York Road - it's better than our York Road.

It's also the oldest continuously used ground in the country. The club have been playing there since 1871 according to the interweb.

I'm looking forward to going.

I saw a picture of it on that God awful Vanarama Facebook page the other day I'm sure it will be new experience but does look quite a bit like Grayfields Enclosure.

The Millhouse also serves Strongarm, I think they have MonkeyStout as well. Last time I was in the Centenary Lounge they also had Strongarm on

Maybe Maidenhead supporters don't lead such busy lives as we do here.....?

Mr Horden, the pub near me I'm watching it in has a minimum of 10 ales on at any one time. Bit of a trek for you like.

Mr Horden the pub I will be watching it in, has 2 real ales and a good few craft bottled beers. I will be drinking John Smiths smooth (cos I can).

Drinking John Smith's smooth when there's cask ales on is like stepping over a begging-for-it Kylie to get a wank behind a skip off Lisa Riley.

Each to their own like.

Bad analogy Mr PIN as allegedly Kylie eats crisps in bed and allegedly Lisa Riley has strong yet flexible wrists!

Asda are going through a shop refit at the minute and they have upped their game with the beer selection, plenty of choice now.

Just the game is good enough for me, faffing on about cocking beer, real ale beardy weirdies, a can of ice cold pepsi max and a chunk of bread, cave aged cheddar, crisp apple and an away win would be fantastic.

I'm in Liverpool on Saturday, however Liverpool are on TV at the same time. Need to find a big sports bar with multiple TV's.

Us real ale beardly weirdies wouldn't be seen dead drinking pepsi max, especially ice cold. Nah it would be Fentimans Cola or nothing for us.

Birkenhead might be your best bet, though they probably all will be supporting Maidenhead

Me and our lass did shopping in there on Monday and spent £41....if we went to Morrisons like we usually do it would have been at least £70!!!!

That's a bit harsh, Chip has a full head of hair. The over 40s team that were drinking in the Jacksons after a game the other week were meatheads like.

Fiver ? you're bringing him up well. My son was charging me a fiver 15 years ago. Needless to say he is a millionaire now and votes Conservative.

Great place to watch the game , The Jacksons. Not sure about the legalities , but surely it cant be that easy for pubs to show Sky/BT without paying , even a nominal fee of some sort. I have seen in the news , a few businesses and individuals getting hammered lately for showing games illegally on Kodi etc

The pub serves 2 real ales and a few craft bottled beers, also has BT sport. It is situated in the Metropolis (too big a clue?).

I hope the bread is still warm from the oven or there may be a cover charge to get in, and its on a 58" led screen in 4K ultra h.d.

And I,m a real ale drinker too :angry-tappingfoot: so you know where the coke can fit! :obscene-buttsway:

I got BT Sports so I could watch the Pools games but opted not to get it in HD to save a few quid. Watching it through Sky (the reason I needed to save a few quid) the picture quality is dire - like colour tellies used to look back in the 80s.

Come to think of it, the footy is pretty much Fourth Divison 1980s standard too, so perhaps it's intentional?

Sure it only costs less than a fiver extra for HD. They blatently reduce the quality to force people to pay the extra. When the camera changed to the dugout camera the quality suddenly increases.

And I,m a real ale drinker too :angry-tappingfoot: so you know where the coke can fit! :obscene-buttsway:

Will do an overnight poolish then, means getting up at 7am to finish off the mix and proof but your worth it

If any Bunkerites fancy a double header tomorrow. Pools are on in the pub, then I'm getting the bus/taxi/lift up the road in time to watch the Mighty Metropolis play their first home League game of the season. (H) vs Newcastle Benfield? After this weeks shenanigans I'm not feeling confident!

[quote="Chip Fireball"]There was a full on EDL meeting in the Park Inn the last time I was in there, haven't been back since.

Really?? when was that then Chip? how many were there in this full on EDL meeting and how did you get in to it? did you sign in? or just casually throw a nazi salute and goose step your way in
