It's certainly not quality: a bland, annoying, useless, totally unoriginal pseudo alt-rock song, desperately trying to be catchy, the kind of crap that usually ends up on EAsports video games soundtracks.

And by the way this is a total rip off of another terrible song, 'I'm only happy when it rains' by the aptly-named Scottish band called Garbage.

I watched them at Leeds 2 years ago....managed to stick the whole set but I must admit a LOT of it was me trying to work out how they "got" the sound. Lots of effects and playing chords on a Bass was the answer so, a bit like the dreadful Muse, they go in the same barrel.

OK but its not "live music".

Quality band The Sherlocks, I know Yubep is a fan as well. I first saw them at the Showroom in town a few year back, doing very well for themselves with Glasto, Radio 1 etc..

I'm going to see them in September.

Saw them at Sage Gateshead as part of the 6 Music line-up around the same time. The hipsters were well into it.

Looks like they abandoned cool in hopes of a hit single. New management? Last throw of the dice?

At first I thought the same. Middle of the road 2007 indie. But after seeing them live n hearing the progression in the new stuff I think they are a bit better than that.

Right, as I have no idea what tone deaf indie, or 2007 middle of the road indie actually means I cant really add to what I said earlier, except both bands have some cracking songs. Not sure what else they need to do.

Not sure why Madjohn hates the Courteeners so much either. If your gonna hate someone musically at least pick one of the billions of absolute shit fest music thats around now, and I could agree.

They wouldnt make my top 50 bands, but I could name a million bands/singers that are significntly worse, and genuinely do make me wanna puke.

Not sure why they in particular get your gander up.

Big fan of the Courteeners, they have changed their style a bit with their latest album but it's fantastic. They are not hugely mainstream either but have a massive following, tickets for their gigs usually sell out within the hour of going on sale.

Been listening to a lot of Viola Beach recently, absolutely tragic what happened to them, their album is superb.

Infact only one man beats them all and thats Danny Baker, and maybe Danny Kelly on talksport.

Infact 6music reminds a lot of the beebs coverage of Glastonbury, which they somehow find almost all of the shite music to show, whilst bizarrely ignoring most of the decent stuff.

A couple of the presenters on 6 music (Lamacq, Gilles Petersen) get on my tits but the others are fine. There is a fair amount of dirge that gets playlisted, but the majority of stuff is spot on.

Never listened to X but I've never liked Danny Baker so will have to give it a miss.

Radio X is brilliant, and Moyles has been playing one of The Courteeners new tunes every day as the record of the week, which has been good to listen to, whilst eating my warm toast and cereal with cold milk on a morning.

I think Danny Baker is on one of the football phone-ins rather than radio x, like. Crouch has been funny this week, mind.

I listen to Radio X alot and to me they just seem to play lots and lots of great music.

I have never listend to it and thought ah they only play indie/rock guiter music.

To be honest I thought all decent music needed guitars.

Its just bloody good music. But I categorise my music as good or shite.

Danny Baker isn't on Radio x.

Off the top of my head it's Chris Moyles, Gordon Smart, Johnny Vaughan, Ellis James and John Robins, John Kennedy and a few others.

A few too many adverts for my liking but other than that it's all usually very good.

Love that Royal Blood song Colonel. And I'm still young and cool so you can ignore the naysayers.

Saw them last month at Rock Werchter and they were very impressive live it has to be said. Wasn't really a fan until then. I admit they don't have much all that much variety, but what they do they do well so fair play to them.

Also saw Radiohead, best live performance I've seen. Foo Fighters were a bit dull really.

One of the highlights was Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, good music with a proper front man.

Shame Belgian/Dutch crowds are a bit gash compared to here mind.

I can definitely see why they've found an audience. I've actually seen Royal Blood live three times, in audiences ranging from a couple of dozen to a few thousand. The first time was the most interesting. I've seen a few bands where the bass has been the main instrument (Rothko, Lightning Bolt...), but not one that have played conventional rock/pop songs. They were a bit different, I enjoyed them. But it's been diminishing returns since then. The second time I saw them I was wishing for some more variation in the set. On the third time I left before the end.

Death from above are my fav bass only band. Bit more punky tho than royal blood

I got a Dongle a few years back and can get millions of radio stations from all over the World. I tended to find I enjoyed some of the German and Dutch stations. I did find a good Cuban Station (if that's your thing). Some of the US stations were not to my taste.

Strangely BishopFM has a few good alternative shows, check out their schedule. Friday from 9-11 is Northern Soul night as an example.
