Despite their taking Pool's place in the EFL, one has to admire the achievement of Forest Green Rovers.

They play at 'The New Lawn', Nailsworth. Where the f*** is Nailsworth you might ask!

Nailsworth is a town and civil parish in Gloucestershire, England, lying, in one of the Stroud Valleys in the Cotswolds, on the A46 road and lies 4 miles south of Stroud.
Population of 5,800 (2011 Census) *Population of Seaton Carew 6018 (2001 Census)

Hartlepool is a town in County Durham, England. The town lies on the North Sea coast, 7.5 miles north of Middlesbrough and 17 miles south of Sunderland.
Population: 92,500 (2011 Census)

I fail to see how they will comply with FFP now in the league.

At least we won't have to eat their pies at half-time, they are a vegan club!

And Mark Cooper as well. Remember how "well" Houchen was treated. Still won't have further misery of them beating us in deepest green Gloucestershire.

I have been to FGR a couple of times, decent ground, in a nice village, in an even nicer area. FGR have been on the up practically all of their existence. They were the team that won the FA Vase in the early 80s , they were barely more than a pub team in those days, but have never looked back, always been ambitious and well run, long before Mr Vincent came along with his money. I wouldn't of thought he would be throwing money around, bankrolling them,, rather concentrating on FGR being able to sustain themselves, a bit like Uncle Ken you could say, only Mr Vincent owns his firm whereas Ken was just an employee of IOR really.

I wouldn't underestimate teams like FGR or the likes of Borehamwood , Bromley, Woking or Sutton in the National League They may only have 500 supporters , but amongst them will be a few millionaires, lots of bankers, accountants , solicitors etc. These clubs supporters have the knowledge and some financial clout.

Its a shame we wont be visiting the New Lawn, as the Stroud Valley and its surrounds is a lovely place to visit, as far removed from football as we know it as you are likely to see anywhere.

Great post horden.

Maybe it's easier to attract decent players to live in such an area of the country. Wives can also be an influence as to where to live.

I don't really admire it. Any team could shoot up the leagues with a super rich owner. And they'll drop back down once the rich owner leaves as well.

FGR love or hate them, for most opposing suporters its the latter, were until last Sunday the longest serving club in the Conference/NL. They had something like 19 consecutive seasons at tier 5 and were an established club at that level before Dale Vince came along, they have hardly shot up from nowhere. That said without Dale's spondulaks they would not have been promoted to the EFL.

paying your electric bill is helping em with the so called green tax on it. even thinking about building another new ground and that will be made out of wood which was something i thought was banned after the bradford fire. then i suppose money talks and you can,t upset those who are saving the world with their energy policies no matter what it costs us to make more for vance and his crew.

Forest Green have been relegated 3 times from the Conference/ National LEague in their time. Each one they were reinstated by clubs higher up the pyramid going bust. Must be a lucky charm.
