I don't envy you chaps and chapesses, as from next season the NL play offs are likely to look like this:-

Proposed changes to the NL POs from next season: 6 teams to qualify 2nd an 3rd automatically qualify for the semi final ties.

4th plays 7th at home - over an one leg tie.
5th plays 6th at home - over an one leg tie.
2nd plays the winner of the 4th v 7th over a one leg tie at home.
3rd plays the winner of the 5th v 6th over a one leg tie at home.
Then the two overall winners play off at Wembley.

This would have meant had the above been in place this season - Barrow could have been promoted who finished 7th 20 points behind Tranmere who finished 2nd on 95 points.

Ah well, can't be helped, it'll all come out in the wash.

Money taking over all sports. Destroyed Rugby League with everyone having a chance after a full season making it a one game near lottery. Crazy stuff.

It doesn't sound so bad to me Dave. If we have a season that massively exceeds current expectations, we could finish 7th!

So the 2nd place team is likely to play the 4th placed team where as 3rd is likely to play 5th?

Wrong way round innit?

So it's easier if you are 2nd or 3rd and more difficult if you are 4th or 5th, but 4th and 5th still have home advantage over 6th or 7th, who nonetheless have a decisive advantage over the other 17 clubs. And then those who get through to play 2nd and 3rd in the semis have the advantage of momentum.

Yeah, well. Can't really find anything to get outraged about there. It's just fiddling.

Idea floated around a few years back which I liked;

5th vs 6th at 5th's ground.
Winner plays 4th over two legs.
Winner of that plays 3rd in the final.

Gives a real advantage to the team in the highest spot and makes it more difficult for the team sneaking in late on good form.
