So we accepted an offer of less than £300,000 for Thomas.

Utterly ridiculous and very worrying.

Very worrying indeed. £300k wasn't exactly much to start with. It says Thomas himself has turned down Middlesbrough??

It just makes no sense.

It is a fact he's worth much, much more. Yes he's worth what people are prepared to pay but this is a piss take.

Plenty of negotiation there then.

Sounds like we just accepted any offers that came along.

Other clubs would reject offers publicly, try and drive price up and get other clubs involved etc.

Not us.

Thinks we must be the worst club at negotiations EVER. More than one club interested generally means a bidding war. We bid down. FFS. Tell Sheffield Utd to match Boro or better it, or Thomas doesn't go anywhere. Its loose change to them.

What this shows me is that in fact stupid people, incompetent peolle, who would be out on their ears where I work, are able to make a lot of money for themselves by being incompetent (but capable of lying and cheating)

Surely the only way a player can influence which club he goes to is if there is a release clause in his contract at bids of £xk. It smells to me as if his agent has tipped off Sheffield as to what the release figure is. If so HUFC set the fee when they renegotiated his contract. So which numpty set that fee level?

If the reports in the papers are wrong then it would seem sensible for the club to issue a denial that any deal has been agreed. Season ticket sales will be even lower if supporters think the club continues to be run for the interests of JPNG and not the club as a whole.

Nice to see that Sheffield United are playing their last pre-season friendly against a National League side - Eastleigh :angry-screaming:

Story of the poor man really, buy cheap, pay twice ( or get relegated ) . Stuck for cash, take your most valued possession
( Insert record/programme/guitar ) down to Cash Converters and get next to nothing for it. And so it goes on ...

This maybe me being thick here but from the original link, the fee included add ons. Which in theory could put the final amount well above, or have I misread it?

£100k initially, then instalments and addons.

I'd imagine a few of those include appearances due to fitness.

Under the current circumstance the £100k may get ahem "eaten up", therefore monies coming in later may be beneficial to a future "ownership"! sctatchinghead Should I be saying this out loud?
