No, but it was probably around 1970, 1971 time. The first match I really remember was Hereford in 1973, we got beat 0-1, Hereford took a quick free kick and scored, despite protestations from the dozy Pools players , who were still arguing amongst themselves. A riot then ensued, skinheads and bobbys helmets on the pitch , and my days of playing hide and seek in the ground were over. Football became very real after that day.

My first was Pools 1 Workington 2 in 1964

... then the next was 1966

Pools 2 Stockport County 1
Phythian, Mulvaney

I remember Ernie's goal to this day 'cos he astonished me how he could jump backwards and still power the header into the onion sack.

I was at that Pools game against Hereford in 1973. They were the divisions new boys. Maybe the first game of many boring ones against them..home or away.

As far as I can remember no early kick offs at home that season, certainly wouldn't of been on a Saturday morning. We kicked off at 1230pm v Darlo on a Sunday in February the season before 84/85

Agree ! though I think the 3-1 away win in 1991 was a possible exception

A game I will never forget Pools 10 Barrow 1, I was hooked. There was some good games after that Pools 5 Oldham 1(Bobby Folland 5) and I can remember Joe Wikinson the keeper we signed from Burnley and Ray Bilcliff(ex Boro) laughing after we had conceded an early goal. The must have known Folland was going to be on fite that monday night. Yes midweek week games were played on a monday at the Vic. Then there was Pools 4 Bradford Park Avenue 1 player manager for BPA was Jimmy Scouler ex Newcastle and they were a very good side then with Kevin Hector if I recall who later signed for Derby. We had a young lad from non league bt the name of Francis making his debut that day and ge bagged 3 but he didn't last long at Pools. I don't know if anyone else remembers pre season when Possibles played Probables. We were shit but even in those days we thought could this be our season.

1-1 away at Chester, sometime around 1984 (ish). I can't for the life of me remember who scored for Pools but Stuart Rimmer scored for them.

My dad made out we were just going on a family day trip to Chester. When we were on the train, he pulled out the paper and said 'look kids, Hartlepool are playing in Chester today, do you want to go?' . Of course we said yes so my mum had no choice but to agree....

Think mine was Colchester at home in 1995. The only reason I remember is that I remember buying a program and it having a piece in about Arsenal who we had just played in the cup.

Looking at in the mad crowd we lost 4-1 with Steve Howard scoring for us although I can't remember.

Circa 96/97 we beat Colchester 1-0 with Chris Beech scoring.

I think my first game at the Vic was Brian Honour's testimonial. My dad took me and bought me the full strip to wear!

The first league game I remember must have been around '96 against Doncaster Rovers as I remember getting their big centre half Darren Moore's autograph before the game.

Can't remember my first game... The first game I actually remember being at was the FA cup game against Bournemouth. We drew and earned a replay, I remember that much. Also remembered they had a red version of our blue spall kit.

We lost to Shrewsbury and Chris Westwood gave a penalty away - thankfully he learnt from that mistake.

Was this the first time Pools played on a Sunday?

3rd Feb 74 Pools 3-0 Stockport

Also remember Pools playing Brighton at home pre-season around the 75-76 time.
However cannot find that fixture on inthemadcrowd.
Anyone else remember playing a friendly against Brighton in the mid 70's?

First FA cup game 1979:

Pools 2 Leeds 6

Vivid memories of Tony Curry one on one with Pools keeper and kicking the ball so hard it almost burst. Heard the keeper gasp as it hit him full in the belly knocking him backwards as he dropped the ball, leaving a simple tap-in.

I seem to remember that the score was 1-1 for quite a while until their big centre half Paul Hart scored a cracker.

Sure mine was around 1989 at home to Rochdale and I remember Paddy Atkinson was playing I think.

Quite surprised to see he has a Wikipedia page and also that he was born in Singapore.

It's no wonder we eventually went down, the few teams we could usually rely on to give us points, all went down before us, Bradford PA been one of them, as well as Workington , Halifax and Darlo banghead

October 1965 Pools 1 Barnsley 2 and Cloughy took over soon after. Amby Fogarty sent off and me a Cornish lad aged 11 and sent to live in that fucking awful Peterlee was hooked. Remember all the shops down Lynn and Whitby Street before "The Grange The Clansman and all that. Thank you Poolies for adopting me and giving me very happy memories.

Good first game that, totally outclassed them, should of won 10-0 and that is no exaggeration, typical pools only had 2 goals to show for their total domination.

August 1952, I think it was Accrington Stanley. We won and the man who became my hero, Tommy McGuigan, scored. He has always been my favourite ever Pools player.

The first time we knocked Crystal Palace out of the FA Cup 2 -1, dont know the year but it was in the Houchen, Newton era. Cant have been very old and was taken by my dad. Seem to remember they hit the bar and then it came down bounced on the line and into the keepers hands. Near the end it sounded like everybody in the ground was shouting United, United.

18/10/1969, Pools 5-2 Bradford Park Avenue (same match as Mr Demented Twig above). Then the week after I went down and watched Pools Reserves 7-0 Washington. So after 2 games I was P2 W2 F12 A2. The bastds had me, and I'm still here 48 years later.

Yes, I can remember Bobby Folland and his 5. Stood behind the Town end marking the goals scored each time next to the name on the programme. I also remember Terry Francis, he was our PE teacher at tech.

2002 for me. As soon as I realised we had a decent team.

Never before that. Well they never used to come and see me when I was bad.

By this makes me feel old. Pools v Norwich FA Cup 1949. Norwich were a 'big' 3rd Div South Club we drew 1 - 1 and got beat 5 - 0 or 1 in the replay. As for the Bobby Folland thread he was one of my best mates who I grew up with and Sod's law I missed his five goals. On Terry Francis his hat trick was laid on a plate by Ambrose Fogarty and I don't think he scored another goal. In those days the team was full of locals, Folland, Parkes, Lithgo, Melville, Herring , Roberts,Douglas, Wallace, McGregor and one or two more whose names escape me, and they say locals never get a chance.
