Bates or Collins I reckon needs to be someone who can do the retained list so needs to know who to keep and who to release.

Head of recruitment is doing the retained list anyway.

It'll be the 'Whoops' option. We're gonna go for consolidation.

Whenever an organisation is in the sh1t, the easy option is to bring back reassuring familiar faces to calm the crew. There, there.

Although I am in favour of bringing in a manager who has no affiliation with our club so they can gain a fresh eye on the current setup. I do believe we need someone who knows the players to decide on the retained list as we're all aware, many other clubs are releasing players/offering new deals and there are good players on offer which we cannot try to sign. Plus, the shower of shite we currently have don't deserve to wear a blue and white shirt after this season.

I wouldn't mind big Sam with an experienced number 2.

I note on twitter that Ronnie was pushing Sam for the job. Maybe Ronnie sees a number two role as a way back into work. As has been said elsewhere, he has a great eye for a player.

Probably be Sam and Bates though.

We just need someone to steady the ship so maybe bringing Sam in is a good idea. Cheap short term, knows the squad and has a good eye for young players.

But if we all agree that the complete club needs to be refreshed - and that all of the current squad who can be released should be - then surely we need someone with no emotional or other connection, someone who knows their way around the lower leagues, someone who has maybe taken one or two teams into League 2, someone who has never been to Essex............

But by the time that happens, how is he going to evaluate who is good enough for next season when he won't have had months training and working with them. Yes we know they weren't good enough for the football league but maybe some can do a job next season, as much as I don't want most of them here. It's a catch 22, but we know the cheap option will be the one Pam will go for, never mind what Mr COX wants.

As I say the head of recuitment is sorting out the retained list anyway so it wont be the next managers responsibility.

We have just been relegated have we not?

Who really gives a shit about the current players?

This club needs cleansing from top to bottom.

Anything else is a smokescreen.

And the amount of people wanting Collins is hillarious.

Colonel is right, what does a manger need to know about the players they are the 91st worst team out of 92 in the country.

Not much else to know really, the reality is new blood is needed. Some players will be sold, some out of contract, both of those groups will release some salary funding, the rest the new manager is stuck with, work with them and make them better than your predecessors, mould them with your incomings.

For me Amond is the only one I'd try to keep. Carson would be more than welcome if he's planning on staying but he's better than NL.

Anyone out of contract can go with the rest free to leave if any offer comes in. Get as much as possible for Thomas and use that money to build a squad capable of competing in that league. Simple really.

Agree. And all this 'knowing the players' nonsense is irrelevant because we know all we need to know. There are managers out there. What is this incestuous need to keep recreating a past link that was never that glorious.
Move on.

Me neither, the bloke comes across as a tool. Seen his attitude up at Blackhall during youth games, effing and blinding, giving officials grief etc, totally unprofessional in my opinion, nothing more than a Northern League standard thug imo.

People have said Micky Nelson would walk back here for a contract, give him one,, offer him what he was on at Barnet, he is the type of player we need to bounce straight back. Make a good captain and if he is interested future manager

I'm gonna be all over Nelson on Friday. He'd WALK into this team and be a huge help in the Conference.

That's the lynchpin of the team sorted then, even if Portakabin have to pay his wages

Whenever I watched the youths, he was often just standing on the touchline on his phone. Often doing nothing doing the warm-ups too, still on his phone and didn't speak to anyone - there must've been something important on there...

I don't think he was held in too high regard by the other coaches, to be honest.

Can't wait to see who the new manager is today. Although Pam only said a further announcement by today, that could be an announcement to say we've had hundreds of applications.

Surely with a 50% stake in the club, Gary Coxall will have a major say one who the next manager is.

How does it work? He's the majority owner but Pam is CEO/Chairwoman. I'm guessing she's responsible for day to day running of the club but as majority shareholder Gary can override any decision she makes.

Anyone with a better understand care to correct me?
