For those looking forward to watching Pools away next season, this may give you an idea of what's in store in terms of atmosphere next season.

So going on this years figures (I think our average finished on just over 3,900) if Tranmere go up we'd be the highest average attendance in the division. I'd imagine when we play away at Gateshead we'll be outnumbering the home support, something that might not be a one off next season.

A decent geographical spread and plenty of places where you could make a weekend of it, such as Chester/Liverpool, Guisley/Leeds, Solihull/Birmingham, Fylde/Blackpool, possibly Salford/Manchester , Barrow/ The Lakes and then all the London are clubs, but imagine the raft of midweek fixtures could put paid to some of these.

Some fans may be turned away by NL footy. Others could be persuaded back if the fans were on the board and were reassured of where their money was headed.

If nothing else next season will be interesting and eye opening in many ways. I'm looking forward to it as sad as it sounds.

We wouldnt be alone in outnumbereing the home fans. Darlo do it every week, and they are just league below us now.

If we got a good run of form, tickets were priced right and there was a happy conclusion to the ongoing ownership issues, I reckon we'd get more than our current average.

I agree. Let's face it we've been shite for years but still have turned up, an almost 4,000 average this season which is mad really, imagine if we were actually winning with a feeling the club was heading in the right direction?

No they don't that is utter bollocks, they only have the 6th highest home average at that level and 11 teams average over a thousand! Someone posted it last week and I was surprised that they were as low down.

It would help if the random collection of words you put together made a coherent sentence then I could have at least a crack at replying.

Darlo's support has only really picked up this season, and in no great way, their away support in relation to their home support seems to have picked up a bit more this season.

I remember though when I lived down South in the 90s, when likes of Newport and Aldershot had to start at the bottom like Darlo, and they were taking 500 - 750 every Saturday away game, 1000 + for games more local, Wimbledon a bit later on did the same, probably in even greater numbers.

That got me thinking about Newport, poor buggers ! actually don't feel so bad about them staying up now. Remember when there fans had to endure the following :

In June 1989 the club was reformed by 400 supporters including David Hando as chairman; later club president. Former manager John Relish was re-appointed team manager and they were elected to the Hellenic League (then four divisions below the Football League). The club's main aim was to regain the Football League status lost in 1988. The club took on the name "Newport A.F.C." and adopted the nickname The Exiles, as a result of the need to play the 1989–90 season home matches at the London Road ground the north Gloucestershire town of Moreton-in-Marsh, around 80 miles north east of Newport. Newport Council had considered the new company to be a continuation of the old and refused permission to use Somerton Park on the grounds of unpaid rent.
They won the Hellenic double, winning promotion to the Southern League.[5] After the 1990–91 and 1991–92 seasons back home in Newport at Somerton Park, the Football Association of Wales consigned them to a further two seasons of exile in England, ground-sharing at Gloucester City's Meadow Park stadium for 1992–93 and 1993–94. The club was forced to resort to legal action to protect themselves from being forced out of the English football league system by FAW secretary Alun Evans who was promoting the first national League of Wales formed for the 1992–93 season.[13] That litigation proved successful, a landmark High Court verdict enabling them to have a permanent home in Newport at the then newly built Newport Stadium

Darlo's crowds were really impressive while they were playing at Bishop Auckland, I suppose it shows whatever happens like us they will always have a core of 'die hards'. I thought they'd have picked up more since they moved back to the Town. I think I mentioned the other week I was having a few drinks through there with a mate who lives in the Town on a match day and apart from maybe a dozen people having a drink you wouldn't have known they were at home. Is the ground the problem? I'd ask Sussex but I don't think he's been to a Darlo game since Ron Greener was playing.

Some of those figures are dubious.
I live in Halesowen and went to the Derby match vs Stourbridge. It was rammed. Attendance at Halesowen was announced as 2500 ish. (Stourbridge pushing for promotion so brought a decent away following). The highest attendance for Halesowen is 600.... somethings not right.
