Rodney was superb yesterday. Not just his goals. He was big and strong and has an excellent first touch and calmness about his play.
I have to admit when I saw him coming on I groaned but if that is what he is capable of, I wish he had the chance to show it a bit sooner. Hopefully yesterday fills him with confidence for pre season and to kick on next year and show that kind of ability on a consistent basis

We were told he was 'pants' as well for 18 year old kid to change such a massive game shows a he's got massive potential, physically he has all the attributes, pace and power is always a good start, he showed no lack of ability either. Even the first goal was a very good composed finish.

Me and a mate watched the whole second half again last night with the help of a box of Stella, Chip was that you on the pitch after the second

That second goal is why we all love Pools and love football, nothing else can make you feel like that I thought my head was going to explode. I don't think I've ever seen a goal celebrated like that at the Vic.

I cannot bear to sorry. Enough..!!!!

Re Rodney, who knows .....his impact was reminiscent to me of Jack Barmby who at times looked a class apart, now plying his trade in some lowly American League....we haven't a lot of options so worth a gamble on him.

Doesn't show Amond in a good light, thank god he passed to Rodney, though even then he still gave the lad a lot to do. As for Rodney , two quality goals, that required a lot of calm and composure, didn't realise he was so well built either, possibly worth a look on that display.

Amond had a bloke on his shoulder, the angle getting tighter and Rodney coming through in space. I'd have been going mad if he hadn't passed it.
The centre forward shooting a rocket into the corner of the net from an impossible angle only happens in Roy of the Rovers and Roy isn't real.

Amond did brilliantly in the lead up to the second goal that is why I was baffled by that comment!?

Amond involved 3 or 4 times on that clip, lost every time. As for the goal, thought his pass to Rodney wasn't perfect and gave Rodney a lot more to do than maybe he should of had, but yeah I was probably being a bit picky with the reference to his part in the goal. I like Amond as a player , but he has gone off the boil recently.

I thought Amond played pretty well on Saturday he always works hard for the team sometimes he is on periphery but you can see he's someone not suited to playing up front on his own which he's done all season. Still 14 goals in a relegated team isn't a bad return.

As for the pass for the second I'm really struggling to see how that wasn't a good ball it sat up at an awkward height for Amond but Rodney didn't have a break his his stride to collect the pass that and the keeper and a couple of defenders had been drawn towards the near post so it took them out of the game. He also showed persistence to win the ball back and cross the ball for the equaliser. He could be a real asset at that level next season.

I'd give Amond and Rodney the first 6 games as a partnership. Rodney is the one thing that's kept me even remotely positive this weekend. Watch the last 25 minutes again....constantly involved, a real handful, two great goals, cool as fuck.

Amond will be one of the top goalscorers in the National League, hopefully with Pools.
And playing up front with someone.

He is playing for one of the biggest and best teams in the USA, in one of the coolest cities in America, fair play to him would you rather live in Portland or Leicester?

Those 2 goals will of done his confidence the world of good. Might turn out to be a useful player in National League, another Mikel Mandron perhaps ? who came highly rated to us from Sunderland , was poor , never got the breaks, but then flourished at Eastleigh.

The ball for Rodney's 2nd was excellent,he could have hit it first time if he wanted.
Amond also set up his first.

That ball from Walker to Amond for the 2nd goal was quality. Sceptics will say it was a long hoof but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

It was Walker and it wasn,t a hoof forward it was a deliberate pass and a quality one at that.

You're right it was Walker, and it was a pass head up side foot right into Amond, we actually scored some cracking goals this season maybe our problem is we didn't score enough horrible ugly fourth division ones especially away from home!

Well it helps if you have two players up front. Under Dave Jones Amond would have had to hold that ball up for a good 5 minutes before he got any support.

I heard on Saturday that Amond was the one who went to see Jones in the week of the Barnet match and said to him how isolated he felt up front and that the tactics weren't suiting any of the players. This wasn't well received, in fact he didn't even start the Barnet game which as we all know went really well.

As early as Luton for me. No new manager impact, his first 3 away games involved crushing defeats at Newport , Mansfield and Luton. Alarm bells ringing from the off.

Amond has to play upfront with someone or not at all.

I'm sure he'd do well in a front two or with an attack minded number 10.

He's a decent finisher, he's not a good enough finisher to make up for his shortcomings in other areas. You've got to be absolutely clinical to play the way he plays and be a lone striker.
