Great atmosphere yesterday but given we were told that around 7500 tickets had been sold I wonder why the attendance given was only around 6700.

Probably not everyone with a season ticket could attend.

But the seats were full so all those ticket holders turned up. Just seems strange if 25% of season ticket holders decide to miss such an important game.

I think they always announce season ticket numbers anyway if they're in attendance or not. Possibly people just buying tickets incase they could make it?

No idea but I also thought it was strange at the time.

I agree with Geoffrey. I was shocked when the crowd was announced too.

700 season ticket holders missing for our biggest game ever. Suspicious or what?

What do you think was the reason for this then?

Back in the day when we use to get sell outs in league 1, I can't ever remember a game where the central stairs in the town end were full because people couldn't get in the terracing.

We only include those who show up, this season we've had gates lower than the number of season ticket holders.

That VAT that made IOR decide enough was enough? You're not suggesting our owners are dodgy enough not to pay tax are you??? Oh hang on, they've already crossed that road several times.

Loads of space near where we stand on the Millhouse as well, plus Donny had sold out but they had 976 there, doesn't the away end hold around 1100?

I was told in the ticket office that there were only about 300 tickets unsold. Given capacity is about 7800 that would allow for a crowd of 7500. The official web site also said 7500. Season ticket sales included in that which means around 800 season ticket holders didn't bother to or were unable to attend. Just seemed strange.

Five of us had to move our seats because of the Sky cameras and behind us there were about 20 empty seats.

A mate of mine hadn't realised you couldn't get a ticket on Saturday so he didn't have one, when he phoned yesterday he was told about 800 went unsold. So take out freebies and the odd season ticket holder swerving it 6,800 seems about right. You could see the Millhouse terrace wasn't full, and I noticed plenty of empty seats near us in the Cyril Knowles.

Oh and he got in and am fairly sure wasn't included in the attendance it's amazing the lengths some stewards will go to for a tenner

Ok so the ticket office staff lied. As for the MH terrace it was overpacked at the town end so of course there was space elsewhere. But if you think it's right then that's fine.

Concurring that the MHT wasn't full.

There were still enough there for all the match programmes to be sold 30 minutes before kick off - feckin' typical of our ultra-professional set up not to realise that they'd shift thousands on a day that might be Pools last in the football league and the game where Doncaster could clinch the title.

Or maybe the printer hadn't been paid so they didn't dare ask for more?

When it's a sell out it's that full right along the Millhouse always looks totally rammed when it's full you could see gaps right along apart from the far end. I'm a bit confused why you are arguing about the attendance...

The away end for example is always in the 900's and not just over a thousand (i.e. Its advertised capacity) because the away players comps are always for the Rink End I know this for a fact as a know a couple of lads who went in the Rink End against Derby when a mate was playing in goal for them. So over 7000 could have been in but I don't think they count freebies and I heard the ticket office say about 800 terrace tickets went unsold with my own ears.

6700 seemed about right to me. Where I stand on Mill House , Town End side it was slack, even in second half when pools kicking towards Town End

Concurring with Minton, I was staying in Doncaster over the weekend but due to the late kick off and no available return trains (including a bus replacement service), I was unable to get to the MHT, having to return to London on Sunday morning. I ended up watching the match in a Donny pub - how ironic is that?
I know a few others who travel on my route so it possibly affected them also.

Talked to a lot of fellow poolies who all agreed it was the best atmosphere they ever known at the Vic.
For me even better than Derby County 84 n Northampton 91.
We are a truly brilliant fanatical set of supporters who deserve so much better.
As for the Vic rocking again sadly that looks a long way off.
