Please note I broke this before anyone else.

Isn't he the one I made fun of from Accrington Stanley who kept falling over?

No they are are wrong MadJohn, Quakerz has just said over on uncovered that Antwi is 'terrible.' Now he knows this without even seeing the lad play so who am I to question his sweeping statement

He was on loan at Accrington last season and a Liverpool fan asked how he was gettign on. Here are some Stanley responses:

Godwin is pretty much single handedly running our defence as of late.
He can read the game like a player with 20+ years experience and will run all day long.
Everyone can see that he's gonna be a big Premiership player one day

Bloody fantastic mate hope we can keep him to the end of the season
Man of the match in the last two games and well deserved this lad is a star of the future,David Martin is also playing well two clean sheets seems to be a natural,a good kicker and very alert as to what is going on around him.

the man is truly awesome

awesome player, reminds me of ledley king

Godwin and David Martin will transform Stanley's season and avert the spectre of relegation same as Scott Carson did for Sheffield Wednesday last season. Having them at the back must give confidence to the rest of the team

So they liked him then! And they liked David martin too :sweeeet:

But they also said Michael Nelson was the worst defender they've seen this season...so I wouldn't trust their judgement.

Looks like the best player we've signed is in one of our strongest areas,
can't see Liverpool being happy with him warming the bench, so it's looking
grim for Ben or Nelse
Unless we are going three at the back

If there's one position where you're going to pick up bookings or knocks it's at centre back.
No club can get away with just two competent ones in the squad. It's no reflection on Nelse or Clark at all.

Anyway for fooks sake we all agreed we needed cover there and Wilson hasn't exactly taken the piss with the cover he has signed has he.
All we are missing now is a spare full back assuming the Kennedy and McCormack deals are not just wind.
That would make seven signings and can anyone tell me when we've made seven (seemingly) better ones in a single close season?

Just out of interest who was the last player we had on a season long loan?

I don't believe we've ever had one

I'm almost certain that Antwi will be the first season long (obviously if he stays). Our three loanees with the most appearances all have 25 and are Neill Collins who we had for the first half of 05-06, James Coppinger who was loaned to us twice and Lee Fitzpatrick who arrived mid way through September 1999 and returned to Blackburn at the end of the season.

Technically players pre -1950s - mainly pre-WWII - were actually loaned to clubs, despite signing for them.

For instance John Phillips would sign for Pools from a top flight club (derby) for nothing however the other club (derby)would hold his registration and could call him back at any time and if another club(hull) came in for him then they would have to pay the club (derbyholding his registration a fee registered with the football league.

Pools held on to Sam English's registration until 1947 despite him not playing for them since before the war. A fee was even held over his head in case another league club wanted to sign him. Pools would also release players to regional league clubs but hold their registrations should a league club come back in for them, or they would just keep hold of open ended amateur contracts - which benefitted them twice in the 50s.

When Accrington came up here last season the centre half and the goalkeeper after watching them i thought these two can play. Never realised who they were till now. Antwi will push keep Nelse and Clarkey on their toes. Good signing the keeper ? Is he the 6ft 8 one ?

I only just managed to getting working with IE not Firefox and then only in Medium not high.

I agree with Fensy he seems in a bit of a daze, the questions he did answer he seemed to give decent enough answers like I am only here to do my work and to play football.

Question for Mad John, how many Pools players have come from an African country, I know we had one many years ago when headlander was a middle aged man that came from Eygpt is there any more?.
