Are quite appropriate opponents today really thinking forwards and back.

When they went out of the League they were probably in the biggest state I've seen any club ever in, I remember going to Belle Vue that season and calling it a dump would be harsh on dumps, the Terrace to our left had 'Richardson Out' graffiti all over the roof and we were all handed 'Ken Richardson Fire Starter' stickers after he'd tried to burn down the stand for an insurance claim (I think he went to Jail for it!) So that bloke made Coxall look like Steve Gibson, they had a team that had included the coaches next door neighbour in goal at one point. Anyway I suppose the moral of the story is that most 'proper' League clubs bounce back and in most cases they come back stronger for the experience. We will, this isn't the end of us whatever happens today or in the coming months. For every Ken Richardson theirs a John Ryan, for every Gary Coxall theirs a Harold Hornsey.

Never Say Die!

He did go to prison for it! Was that the game where the fans staged a protest and walked out at half time when they were 2-0 up and Pools pulled it back to 2-2.

I work with a couple of Donny fans who actually say that going out of the league was the best thing that could have happened. It's hard to imagine (and I don't suppose it felt like it at the time) but that's what they say. It took them 5 years to come back I think but they came back fighting, with a great (local) chairman and now have a modern stadium and apparently stable club.

They're definitely worth remembering when things look really bleak.....
