I honestly thought the US secret service would have carried out Trumps assassination by now!

His press officer out trumped Trump this week surely?

"Even Hitler didn't sink to using chemical weapons" whilst talking about Assad.

When it was pointed out that Xclone b was used to murder millions of people he soon got out of it seamlessly by claiming "what I meant is that he didn't use them on his own people"

That's until it was fairly quickly suggested that even though most those people were either Jewish, homosexual, disabled, black ect quite a lot were still German and even more of them would have been classed as German before the First World War.

We live in terrifying times.

Oh and that's before you even mention some of the stuff Americans dropped on Vietnam, I don't suppose the two Atom bombs on Japan killed any bairns either.

The North Koreans have launched their new missile as a demonstration of their power this morning. It crashed into the sea.
Militarily, North Korea is an obsolescent basket case. The carriers have been used since the fifties as power projection and the message isn't just there for Korea but places like Iran as well.
It's all bluster.
The real Cold War was scary, this isn't. Funny thing is that the real Cold War was ended by another president who had the piss taken out of him standing up to Russia but never actually doing anything, oddly it was Nxon who ended the Vietnam war another reviled president.
Which US president started the Vietnam nightmare....?
Who promised to back the Arab Spring leading to the mess we're in now in Syria but withdrew his support after it began and for fucks sake don't mention General Tony our very own military genius.
I suspect Trump is already boxed up and doing as he's told.... Nobody noticed he's become a talking head.

Aye North Korea are an angry bunch but the situation was created by the good old U S of A back in the 50s.

Bombing the shit out of a country that killed 10% of the population hardly won hearts or minds... you think they would learn.

One more thing I've noticed, if Trump is the leader of the free world and a 'good'guy - why is he driving around in a bullet proof car?

I'm more worried about The USA than any other country at the minute.

How many Japanese were bombed, Germans bombed, do they have a problem with the Yanks. North Korea is a basket case ran by a dynasty of dictators. Trump is an irrelevance.
Incidentally the North Koreans invaded South Korea to start the Korean War. The Yanks and a few other nationalities were there under UN auspices. The bombing that took place was because there were not enough troops in South Korea to defend it which is why they probably took the opportunity to invade in the first place encouraged by the Chinese and Russians at the beginning of the domino theory of communist expansion.
I don't listen to politicians, I just read a selection of historical references for a full spectrum of views.
Just need one on Pools now.

The US dropped more bombs on North Korea than they did in the Pacific region during the whole of ww2.

They also used tons of napalm.

Some American troops bragged about destroying villages and massacring everyone. It then makes it easy for a tinpot dictator to demonise an enemy when these things have happened.

Surprisingly, Max Hastings did a half decent book on the subject. Read it.

The Goose-stepping and Pom-Pom show at their Military Parade was impressive.

Does his book include the fact that the Americans refused to recognise a democratic election of the communist party by the peasants, the US then pressed ahead and tried to enforce a capitalist system on North Korea which the peasants rejected.

Aye the peasants in N Korea have done really well out of that deal/election with the Jun Il dynasty in charge equally distributing wealth in a communist utopia. The starving masses in the capitalist south are trying to get across the border in their droves

They were starving peasants under the old system too. They haven't won either way you look at it.

Ahhh capitalism... the model that gives to all.

Makes you wonder why we have food banks in the uk

I'm not defending the venture capitalist version of capitalism we have on the west today by any means. However the big state version of communism we've seen since ww1 has generally entailed a totalitarian style dictatorship of sorts. The Chinese have moved their model a little but I know where I would rather live despite what I think of the right side of Western politics

Can't remember anybody in the House of Commons being executed by Anti-Aircraft guns for having a nap in a speech.

Aye. I understand in this case it really is grim up north.

Unfortunately I also resent capitalism which is causing s lot of the issues in our country right now.

Not trying to make extreme comparisons but the state of the nhs. Zero hour contracts. Victimisation of the poor and low waged and the top 1 % not paying theur fair way is really boiling my piss.

That's all a valid debate, however the difference in this country is at least you can make a stand openly and strongly without getting locked up or mysteriously falling down the stairs like a lot in a lot of the regimes and countries around the world
