Well this escalated

I just thought it was an out of order thing to say. Is that opinion allowed?

I don't think he should be sacked. He's apologised. It's done.

Managers get chucked infront of the media straight after games. The fa n tv want this stuff to happen. It's all part of the premier league drama package.

I didn't realise to have mutual banter agreeable to both parties was now considered Neanderthal.

So much for free speech in this country it just does not exist anymore thanks to the PC Police and their eyes and ears supporters.

I agree with that but no one has been slapped. if they had that would be entirely different.
David Moyes said if she wasn't a woman she would get slapped. So what he was actually saying is that he wouldn't slap a woman, making her absolutely safe from a slapping from him. He may however slap a male journalist in similar circumstances and, as he hasn't done so in all the years he has been fielding their questions, chances are he wouldn't do that either.
I don't thing anybody on here is saying a man slapping a woman is banter and nobody is suggesting slapping a woman is tolerable, least of all David Moyes.
As for the "be careful" advice Moyes gave to her. She needs to be careful with her questioning because she is there to ask questions about the game. if she is not careful she could be banned from after match interviews. I'm sure that is what he was alluding to although only he knows and, if it was sinister, only he knows that also.
It appears to me that there is a history of banter between these two, underlined by her reaction to the incident. If she was not offended or felt threatened then why all the hoo hah?
That is my take on the incident anyway.

Yubep/Bresslaw - dictionary meaning of banter -something said that is funny and not serious. That is exactly what all parties in this exchange took it to be.

Everybody involved or present thought it was banter so it must be taken as banter.

The most offensive thing about all of this for me is the use of the word banter. It's not the LAD bible you pack of cretins.

David Moyes didn't say that at all. He says just because your a women doesn't mean you won't get a slap.

Banter is the modern day way of saying "no offence right..." before you then go ahead n say something offensive

He's a challenge, think about it for one second.

If everyone present thought that the footage wouldn't have ever have come to light. Most present thought he was unhappy with the question and acted in a passive aggressive manner towards the reporter. That was subsequently confirmed himself by Moyes in his apology. It sounds from the audio like the mood in the room was light hearted, it wasn't.
