Just seen some Wearside domestic Violence female spokesperson describe his comments as threatening to inflict violence on the female journalist not just once but twice, she went to say it was staggering, simply staggering.

Another nail in our coffin of free speech in this country.

PC lunacy lives on.

The woman took it in the spirit it was intended. An apology was in order and it happened. End of oh no

I thought he said it tongue in cheek with a smile and the reporter was laughing herself. I am sure if it had not been caught on camera we would not have heard anything about it. Like I said the reporter seemed to take it in good faith.
I see Saint Gary (Linaker) has put his nose in.
If this had been a male reporter we probably would not have heard anything about it. So much for equal rights.

She's laughing as he's saying it and you can tell by his voice he's not being in any way serious.

She herself has made no complaint it's just another case of people getting offended on someone else's behalf, it seems to happen a lot these days.

Only just got around to listening to what went off. He is never going to actually slap her is he? The fact she was laughing through it tells you all you need to know.

Jesus wept.

In actual fact, her laughing tells you nothing about the situation.

Horrendous comments and he deserves censure

It was probably nervous laughing.

Aye, I did consider it could be nervous laughing but it sounded to me like he was laughing too or rather talking with a smile on his face - in other words not genuinely threatening.

If you want to see threatening behaviour just look at Roy Keane with that bloke who lets his phone ring in a press conference.

For me, it's not the words that are used it's the intent behind them.

If there is a genuine threat in there, then yes, he is an absolute cock and should he hung out to dry but in this case there was just no threat as far as I could hear.

You're taking it completely out of context Mr Yubep.

Are you a journalist? :)

Really? You honestly need it explaining?

If I walk up to a woman at work and threaten to slap her, genuinely, I'll get sacked and rightly so.

If I'm having a conversation with a woman at work and as part of that conversation threaten to slap her for what she has just said to me, do it with a smile on my face making it clear there is no actual threat or intention on my part, there should be no issue - she is absolutely clear in that it would never happen.

If anything it's just a really poor choice of words when he's basically saying he thinks she's overstepped the mark with the question she asked.

Nigel Walter Mitty Shithead was far worse with those 'Ostrich' comments a couple of years ago. He was aggressive in his tone and clearly angry. Moyes tone is clearly light hearted and it's sounds like that's the way the woman takes his response I suppose only she can answer that, his choice of words was ill advised but he's acknowledged that and apologised for them I'm not sure anything more needs saying on the matter after that, only surely the person on the receiving end could do that anyway?

And Walter Mitty Shithead not long after was sacked for being absolutely offit

Moyes won't last much longer. Be a good chance for both him and the terrible club he works for to part ways

After all... they didn't mind what Adam Johnson did until after he saved them from relegation

Why does somebody just ask the reporter how she took it. I'm sure she would just say it was banter. I wonder if she complained?

Agree - it should be - but for some folk think that this is a 'big issue' - which is b*ll*cks when you look at all the other sh*t that is going on in the world.......

I think it's an issue. Not a big one in the grand scheme of things.

It must be hard for a women in a male dominated sport. This hardly helps

A non story. It was said in a jokey non threatening way. She laughed it off, he apologised end of!
He probably sees her all the time and has a good relationship with her. As said earlier mountains and molehills comes to mind.

This non story is all about perception. 2 Pals had a little joke that was taken light heartedly by both parties. A third party overheard and their perception was it was un PC so jumped on the outrage bus. Unfortunately in a previous life I have seen this "perception" of others, when I defended the "spoken attacker" where the "spoken to victim" acted as defence, because someone else overheard and "percieved" it was offensive.

It's all about context, really, and PERCEPTION!!!!!

As a disclaimer, each case should be taken on its own merits.

Oh dear. The Journalist clearly took it as banter, the journalist didn't make a complaint. Moyes apologised for any offence caused, the Journalist accepted his apology. Now some people, who weren't there, weren't involved are jumping on the outrage bus. You couldn't make it up.
Save your outrage for things of more importance that really matter, just as the Journalist has done.
As me Mam used to say "Sometimes it's not what you say, it's the way you say it". Anybody who believes Moyes was actually seriously threatening to slap the Journalist or would subsequently slap the Journalist is either seriously disillusioned or stirring the shit. I could go as far as to say it is they who need the slap.
Having made my point I would also say that many a Journalist is actually in need of a slap. whether they be male or female.

It makes me sick, the FA are even seeking an explanation, womens groups jumping on the bandwagon at every turn, any excuse to escalate it into something it clearly was not.

There is so much genuine bad stuff they could be focussing on but this will run and run.

Lost the plot.!!

I think the slap part was clearly a throw away joke but the joke should have ended there. Obviously he shouldnt have said it but I dont believe it was the worst part.

Why on earth he added the bit after about "being careful next time you come here" is beyond me.

I think 'sinister' is a more than a little bit over the top. I don't envisage a scenario we she's walking home and gets jumped by a gang of masked Premier League managers. It's not literally threatening behaviour but his words aren't 'banter' either they are at worst passive aggressive but definitely they are patronising and he probably wouldn't have spoken like that to a male reoporter who had asked the same question.

But again, the two people have been involved have spoken and an apology has been accepted, end of matter people should be getting excited about more important things not getting offfended on other peoples behalves. The fucking irony of The Daily Mail trying to get him sacked is hilarious.

The FA seeking an explanation. So how does that work - they can see it for themselves. Yes he said it (fairly lightheartedly in my opinion). The reporter didn't seem offended. He shouldn't have said it and has apologised.

Wonder how long his explanation is?

Yubep, you're getting a slap when I see you next. Get a grip.

Bresslaw, are you completely incapable of entering into any debate whatsoever on any form of social media without simply stirring the shite and taking an affected standpoint ? Are you so desperate for attention ? Grow up.

Anyway getting back to the main topic, it seems to me that everyone bar half a dozen Neanderthals on the Bunker think his comments were out of order including his own club.

Incidentally, I said Neanderthals whilst laughing so no one was offended
