Has clearly done his homework on who our historical local rivals are, see here with the type of snide dig I'd be proud of :laugh: ;

Good way to win points with you lot. Loughlin would have spunked himself typing that up too.
What Jones needs to bear in mind is that there isnt that much between where the two clubs are and you have been seriously riding your luck both on and off the pitch in the last 2 years.

Might as well ride it while you've got it.

Do I detect a touch of bitterness?

I thought he may have signed that contract that Coxall said was going to be signed a couple of weeks ago.

That's brilliant. Love those digs.

I do wish the new Darlo well to be honest but we are a bigger club, there's no denying that.

Just an honest opinion.
No doubt your are a bigger club these days but you would be in no different a position than we are had the boot been on the other foot.
One reason why you have to fight tooth and nail to make sure people like Coxall don't get control over the ground.

Probably as there's a bit more money floating about, traditionally the Conference has been Southern based and most of let's say more plastic clubs that have got into the League have been Southern and come through those divisions without much support through the turnstile to speak of. I can only think of Fleetwood as an example as a Northern based club who have done that. Maidstone, Crawley, Rushden & Diamonds are a few off the top of my head, then you have others like Eastleigh and Forest Green aspiring to do it now. The Southern non league (at the higher level anyway) scene is probably stronger than in the North in terms of what they can offer in terms of wages and the pool of players available. You have far more proper Football Clubs up here though.

Bigger club? Have we suddenly turned into Chelsea.

I don't see how you can class Pools and Darlo as anything other than twins. Apart from their recent demise and rebirth, the history of the two clubs is almost a mirror image. We see-saw above and below each other with neither achieving that much other than continuing to exist and the only real highlights, apart from the odd play off final appearance, are the games against each other.

I would also venture to suggest that the last five or six years has been far more interesting and enjoyable for them down the road.

That phrase always makes me cringe 'bigger club' in any context.

Until Darlo ceased to exist Pools and Darlo were 'twins' with a similar history.
The new club are yet to be a league club and we've never played at the same level as them, hard to compare the two really.

I also agree the last few years have probably been more interesting and enjoyable for the hardcore supporters like Loan Star.

I think it's now that it becomes more challenging for them arriving at a reasonable standard of football without a fit for purpose ground or the finances to build one any time soon. They might have a period of stagnation and might even have to go backwards to try and go forwards in the future at some point.

So while I agree to extent with that comment I'm certainly not craving liquidation and restarting in the Northern Echo any time soon.

Also now it's got few nibbles I don't think Jones is having a pop at Darlo at all in the article more Bartlett. It sounds to me like he hasn't told them the full story when he's asked for his contract to be terminated. Realistically our paths with not cross in a League game for very long time without things going tits up at our end which obviously isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

The ground is up to Conference North standard, with plans to be announced in less than a month on the finances needed to be raised to turn it in to a Conference National graded ground.

Might have to go backwards (i.e the Northern Premier League) to go forwards? clappp

The usual bollocks from those who don't seem to grasp the fact that if we had been a new club we wouldn't have carried the debt over from Raj Singhs Darlo.
You tell me any other football club that has restarted who has carried the debt over from the previous club?

By the way, Bartlett was fine for 20 minutes or so then flapped at one and went downhill quickly :angry-tappingfoot:

He's not bobbins. He's not Football League standard that's for sure, he's a capable shot stopper, every keeper should be to be fair but we've had ones that aren't! But he's hopeless at dealing with set pieces and crosses. He knows this and usually stays on his line which causes further problems at times. Like I said when he signed dropping down to Conference North is probably his level his game is perfectly sound he's just too small. Any run of games for us and he started to get exposed and found out my reaction as soon I heard Carson was injured was 'we have got to sign a better keeper'

Can see he does seem to have a a few flaws but its been a problem position for us this season, Jameson had a drop in form and the lad we had on loan from Pools (Dudszinski???) wasn't an improvement by any means. Signed another lad with a name I cant be arsed to find out how to spell (I just call him Ed) and he was doing ok but I heard that Gray didn't rate him high enough to be a regular No1, rather an adequate understudy. To be fair to Bartlett, both Hereford and Gateshead fans seem to like him so there must be something about him. Maybe just a confidence thing. Could also have something to do with your defensive problems over the last year or so that hasn't helped him either.
Time will tell.
