Mr Tree, Argos have warehouse clearance stores at Stanley and Darlington where you can get telly's half price!

TBF I bought a 50" Polaroid Smart Telly for me Dad last year, only £250 from The ASDA; And can't complain at all, picture, sound, quality etc top notch!

I've just paid 1200 for the next model up.

Watching a 4k fillum with HDR is a fucking beautiful experience, if you're into that sort of thing.

Indeed it does, 3xHDMI ports.

Decent sound too which surprised me, I have external speaers but not even plugged them in.

Thanks for not pointing out the missing K in speakers.

Thanks for the advice too.

Get yourself to richer sounds. Price match anywhere and offer a 6 year warranty I believe.

Colonel, I can see that, like me, you have no respect for televisions ever since they grew too thin to balance your coffee cups on.

Depends what you mean by decent sound. They're just too skinny to fit a decent speaker in, I've got a Samsung 50'' and without the external speakers it sounds like a little two bob transistor radio.

This one's got two downward pointing Harman Kardon speakers, not the most powerful but noticeably decent for a TV.

Curved screens are brilliant if you're the only person in the house who ever watches TV and your chair is nailed down to the floor at the sweet spot.

Been waiting for a drop in price for the 55 inch model , it's down to £900 from £1400 last year.Them legs on it are a bit wide though. sctatchinghead..Richer sounds for me as said they give a 6 years guarantee and have good reputation for Customer service.

I think if I was spending that amount I'd go for one of the LG OLED TV's, the 1080p version is better than most of the 4K tv's I've seen so the 4k ones must be unreal.

That's why I bought the ks8000, has a centre stand. Got the 55" on a price match with John Lewis for 1195 with a free 4k blu-ray player and 3 free 4k dvds.

Absolute beauty watching The Martian in 4k

Think il buy the one yloop mentioned tomorrow. Don't need to spend loads really as I don't watch tv much.

Generally just sit and read a decent book.

I watch about 3 hours television a week. The shite that's on there most of the time isn't going to suddenly turn into a work of art because you are watching it through something the size of a garage door.

I had the same television from 1990 till last year when it finally broke. After going about 6 weeks without having one my daughters boyfriends parents gave me their old one. It works fine, no idea why they would be getting rid of it to be honest.

Can just about understand folk spending time watching it in the Winter when its dark and cold, but why in the name of God anyone would watch it from May- Sept is beyond me. I mean some folk watch about 20 hours of television a week - that's like 3 hours a day every day. Don't know how they do it and retain their sanity.

Spot on. Last time I watched anything other than footy, boxing or news on telly was about 1996. I'd rather read than watch the telly unless Bonanza, 3-2-1, Happy Days or The Dukes of Hazzard is on haha

I'm planning to launch a device called an actual reality helmet. Pop it on, go out of the front door, and experience the joys of interacting with other humans. There are also smells, weather and sporting activities - you're fully immersed the whole time and the helmet is a fraction of the price of a giant telly.

I've never watched a "Box Set" in my life, but I'm starting to think I'm in the minority. Best things on UK TV at the moment are Broadchurch and a year-old repeat of "Cradle To The Grave" on BBC2.

Other than that it's literally retro-stuff as per 3Quid!

No way on God's earth would I pay money for a big telly...just couldn't justify it. And as for telly's in bedrooms...Jesus....do you have Electric Blankets too?

Yet you'd pay good money for music related stuff no doubt? Each to their own innit.
