Location: Rocks or Colliery?
youngsters on pro' contracts now put to bed the idea that the club is indulging in a relentless fire sale?

Howcome the fans can't black up faces when Aaron Cunningham has blatantly blacked up his legs.

PS congrats to the lads. Kenton Richardson, in particular, gives me hope for the future.

What doesn't really sit well with me about these four signings is that two of them have Football League experience. I mean compared to most of our recent signings Kenton Richardson is has been around the block, and Josh Hawkes has also touched the ball in proper match.

It's a clear change in club policy signing people who are actually involved with the first team on a Saturday.

One has missed the best part of 2 seasons and got a Pro deal, What did they rate him on how well he hobbles round the car park

I do not see anything new in this. Most seasons we give a few pro contracts out to the youth team. Recent ones come to mind, Richards,Nearny,Holden,Green, Hawkins, Blackford.

I presume based on his ability before those injuries and they think at the relatively low wages/outlay he is worth a chance to prove himself?

Love it when people have a grudge so throw shit in any direction instead of looking at what the real reasons are...

Not sure how relevant this is to this thread but fuck it, it's out there.

Would he get a game for Washington ?

Probably not if hes injured, cant say i've seen Washington play to be sure.

Point is atleast 4 players for a cb position 3 of which played 1 or 3 seasons yet deemed not good enough but someone who has played barely 1 is.

Fair enough if Jones has watched the lad but reading the article thats unlikely given hes injured

Promoting kids from the Youth team is all about identifying those who have a chance of stepping up into the Football League. That is what the whole set up is ultimately for most of them aren't going to make it. So it's irrelevant if he's played 1 game 1 season or 3 seasons they obviously think this lad has more of a chance of making it than others. That is all that matters. Youth team matches in grand scheme of things mean nothing as harsh as it sounds.

Every now and then,at half time, the whole of Pools kids from 8yrs old and up over come on to the pitch and do keep ups and so on. I always as a father watch with a heavy heart because they all think they are going to be footballers but history shows very few if any will make it. It's nice to dream though.
