He was diabolical but never gave less than 100%. He was like a fan who'd won a competition to play in the Footballl League.

The time he had a fight with Adrian Heath against Burnley was quality.

The Pools team who took us up the first time in '68. Mostly journeymen footballers brought together by Cloughie and Taylor with a strong Burton Albion midlands influence. No stars what a team.

John Terry doesn't get enough credit for all those trophies he won without being on the pitch.

No stars ?????? Give yer head a shake.
John McGovern, Bryan Drysdale, Terry Bell, Cliffy Wright, Alan Goad, Tony Parry to name but a few.
McGovern went on to captain two European Cup winning teams for a start.
Did you ever see that team play???????????????

I saw nearly all the games. Sincerely, McGovern wasn't one of the players who impressed me. And we didn't score that many goals, so I'm not going to name a striker.
Wilson Hepplewhite, John Gill, John Sheridan, George Smith were the stand-out players who immediately come to mind for me.
And I think the idea put forward earlier that Cloughie won us promotion with that team is verging on an insult to Gus the Bus.
