As for the long ball football, for anyone who was at Notts County, today's long hoofs were nothing in comparison. Lost count last Saturday of the amount of times I saw us punt it long for Amond.

Notts County was the worst I've seen us play this season in all honesty, for many reasons. Not only did we play awfully, but we were doing so against an also awful side. In truth a decent side would have properly taken us apart.

Granted I haven't been to too many away games this season, but by the looks of the Notts County performance that's a relief for me. Makes the Cambridge result last Tuesday all that more surprising, and important. It actually took a lot of pressure off todays game too. Had we lost Tuesday and then today as well, I'd have been worried.

Fortunately I don't feel all that dreadful about the game today because of Tuesday's result. Still very confident we'll be fine and see the season through.

Evening gents, don't really post and just enjoy the reading to be honest but I think I've had my fill of us playing 1 up top at home. Completely frustrating and counter productive. It can't be only me that sees every time we bring the ball forward there is nobody to receive it in the centre of the forward line. Frustrating!!!!

Frustrating, but it seems we are trying to ride this season out. Got to trust Jones in this.

Truly utterly atrocious. It's so boring to watch.

Players are certainly trying but the lack of quality is beyond belief. Surely with a midfielder playing left back and centre half, you have to try to use them to play it out from the keeper? Not whack the ball at every opportunity to amond who was up against it with that style of play from the word go against a big strong centre half partnership.

Biggest concern for me was that every time the defence got the ball, the midfield 3 was nowhere to be seen. Someone has to show for the ball.

The crewe and Exeter wins really paper over how poor we are as even those games show how shit we are unless we score. We hung in with both of those games and arguably got a goal against run of play and really then become a positive side.

Today we worried about their physical side too much and if Jones thinks it was a smash and grab, he must be smoking something. I remember their keeper making 1 notable save and that was from Harrison's header 2nd half?

Brad Walker very good though again and I was firmly in the release him camp. He looks very composed as a centre back and long may it continue

Amazingly Walker now looks the most saleable asset again over Carson and Thomas, scary to think what happens when they go in the Summer.

It must have been bad, it's the first time this season I've resorted to the verbals against the opposition and referee. One lot cynical, the other one incompetent. Wycombe came to win, football was the loser. As someone said, they looked and played like a rugby team. It could have been used as a training guide on how to win without resorting to playing football.
As for the alleged referee, he must be the prime candidate for referee who was on another planet, or a rugby ref.
Linesman, what do they for do, if a murder took place in front of them they'd tell the police they saw nothing and that's the trouble, things do happen in front of them and they stand like dummies..... in a sort of ... ' I saw nowt guv' pose.
Aaah, that's what they do, put their immaculately ironed flag up when they see which way the refs pointing, they're there to confirm his decision even when it happened in front of them and the ref got it wrong. Rant over.

For me the turning point was when Alessandra broke from our half, drew the 2 defenders before playing Amond in....only for woods to take it off his foot. Someone referred to it above saying Amond was at fault but he wasn't it was all down to woods stretching for a ball he couldn't reach. He just touched it and took it away from Amond who I would've fancied to bury it.

That would've made it 1-1 and a different game.

As someone else mentioned, we could still be playing now and we wouldn't have scored, just one of those games.

Akinfenwa had a good game. Complete pain in the arse and was happy to see him go off.

They were far better organised - and cynical.

Another solid shift from Thomas - and Walker was solid.

But, Featherlite, oh dear, oh dear - how he let the ball under his foot - immediately after Woods and Amond got in each others' way in the box was verging on pitiful.

Normal service is resumed.

I lost count of the number of chances Wycome didn't have

Oh yes and I don't think Amond was at fault for having a poor game. He just isn't a lone striker. He needs to be working off a target man. That game where Oates won all those headers (Exeter?) was a prime example. Admittedly we didn't have anyone he could play off but with that being the case the very least you should be doing is playing it in to his feet

I actually blame allesandra for that. The pass was played far too late to amond. Woods didn't help once the ball was played by putting Amond off but I think the pass was a few seconds too late, allesandra thought about going it alone before finally making the pass.

I actually think after delaying the pass too long he probably should had just had a shot himself (Edit: that is had a shot at goal not took his own life!), whatever the outcome it would have been better than what actually happened!
