it won,t be a classic. they rely on long balls, set pieces and a guy up front who would have made bernard manning look like slimmer of the year. ball will be in the air all the time. if pools can counter this could be a 1 niller.

Pools 4 Whycome 2.

Pools unleash their inner-Barcelona to create intricate passing patterns around the lead footed giants. Our final goal comes after a move involving 47 passes and all eleven players.

And still the north east news programmes wouldn't show the goal on their weekend sports review, instead listening to some flatulence tunefully emitted by Rafa Benitez in the bath

It's one of the harder things in life to get your head around when you see him in a football shirt, that he's not as fat as butter and it's all muscle. He's seems a really good bloke actually he had a laugh with the crowd last season and it's got to be said that he's been a good player in the lower Leagues. I bet he's scored 15+ again this season.

If players swap shirts at the end of the match Akinfenwa will have to make do with Dave Jones' jumper as nowt else will fit.

Seeing as most seem to fancy Pools tomorrow, you can't go too wrong with looking at our price. 13/5 on Bet365 just to win, seems worth the value to me. You can even get 6/1 for -1 handicap. bbolt

Worth noting that Wycombe have only won 1 in their last 8. Although admittedly they are unbeaten in their last 4 so have turned a corner slightly. Still fancy us though, confidence must be pretty high at the moment and we have won 3 of our last 5 at home, drawing the other 2.

As you can see I'm trying to convince myself to take this bet...

3-1 Pools

3789

Thomas, Amond and Allasandra to score.

Far too much optimism ahead of this game. You are all deluded if you think we can get back to back wins again. It would also make our annual fight for survival boring.

Pools loss, Newport and Orient win.

Pools to throw away a two-goal half-time lead but then grab what seems like a winner in the dying minutes, only for Wycombe to equalise on 90+2:30 but then Pools to get a Barcelonesque winner on the stroke of the final whistle (yes there's such a thing as a final strokable whistle).

Fecking whistles getting blown and stroked more than I do.

Your prediction sounds exciting so I'll settle for that, with or without and whistles getting stroked.

I think we'll just shade it but the score is anybody's guess. In the spirit of things I'll go for 2-0. The gaining of three points is all I care about.

Frustrating afternoon.

They were like rugby team but once they got ahead very organised but the referee was utterly appalling. The blatant penalty he didn't give was gutless stuff he pulled it back and gave a decision for a foul on the keeper he wasn't going to give before the most obvious handball ever. The foul on straight through the back of Thomas he didn't give just before half time was like nothing I've seen before.

Well that was fucking atrocious. Could tell from the first minute we weren't at the races. Only Allessandra coming out of that with any credit for me. Amond may as well have not been playing.

Thought we were going to go for a 3-5-2 when I saw the line up, instead we go 4-3-3 and let Saunders run the midfield. Poor ref but no excuse, too many players didn't turn up.

Luckily it's as you were at the bottom. Can't see Orient or Newport winning more than 3 matches so one more win should do.

Shite game like

What a bad game they just done us with experience of fouling and time wasting and the ref just played along with it.
How ever pools didnt look like we would score if we played for 3 hours.

I really think the penalty decision was huge we are a different team when we score and the way they set up is all about being 1-0 up away from home. It was as blatant as you will ever see. The players all put a shift in, Walker was quality again.

If it hadn't been for some outstanding saves from Fryer that could have been a hammering.

They were far better organised - and cynical.

Another solid shift from Thomas - and Walker was solid.

But, Featherlite, oh dear, oh dear - how he let the ball under his foot - immediately after Woods and Amond got in each others' way in the box was verging on pitiful.

Normal service is resumed.

Outstanding saves behave yourself they had two shots from distance that he tipped over well but they were saves he should have made. A hammering!? What were you watching!?

Why do people have always single out and slaughter individuals the game was fairly tight we did our best to mix it with a very physical team with another makeshift team with just about the only fit senior players we had available. Someone 'let the ball under his foot' fuck me..... You have singled out Thomas for praise he was probably 5 (and the 5 was for his workrate which was good, on the ball he had a nightmare) out of 10 for me, I'm not sure why he's playing on the right though.

Didn't featherstone let it under his foot about 30seconds after Amond did similar with the goal at his mercy?

Alessandra delayed the pass too long then overhit the pass then Woods ran across Amonds line of vision and he had an awful touch as a result. Football was the winner, we really should have made more of that.

I know Kenton is only 17 but unless the coaches teach him to back off the winger, he is going to get tortured, he is far too close and the winger can roll him either side and he got caught wanting a few times today.

Oh and that Rooney is pants.

Thought Richardson was generally okay today. I certainly wouldn't single him out for criticism.

Rooney had very little to work with when he came on also.

Wycombe's threats basically came from long punts to Akinfenwa and long range efforts outside the box. They weren't a particularly impressive side. They just took their chance when it arrived and were cynical for the rest of the game, which the referee allowed them to be.

We weren't really equipped to deal with them in hindsight. A big horrible side like Wycombe was always going to be tough to play against when we have a makeshift team with little steel in it.

Thought Thomas was very poor today, tried hard but pretty much nothing came off for him. Walker was impressive once again and Allasandra had his moments. But all in all a poor game.

We move on.

Walker hasn't had a bad game since he was converted, Thomas has looked a shadow of himself really, Would love to sign the keeper but no chance maybe a season long loan could be arranged, Not sure why we sign loanee forwards they never get a game, parent clubs must be furious. Fair play though players have done well of late all things considered.

Any why do so many people have to be so critical when we lose a game? We have so many folk on here that believe they are experts. #loonies

Any teams who have sent scouts to watch Thomas are gonna try and buy Walker instead.

I thought Featherstones ball retention was excellent today, whereas Hawkins shook his head at being subbed 2nd half, I'd have hauled him at half time, he offers nothing for me.

Think they were a well organised team, not my cup of tea, too many fouls, dives and petty complaints. Referee was atrocious, lost count of the number of poor decisions he made. Two clear penalties for me, one for handball which he decided to create a foul on their keeper to deny, and a clear foul on Thomas when bursting into the box.

That aside I felt we were ok, Walker looks excellent at centre back. Amond, as usual, is isolated up top on his own and long balls against two centre backs a foot taller than him are never going to work. Thomas had a poor game, I want to see him isolate the full back and run at him but he takes up some strange positions.

I think we are capable of beating Wycombe, they just took their chances and we didn't take ours. Not a lot in it at all. Overall disappointed with the result, performance wasn't great but I've seen us play a lot worse.

Thought we struggled to compete & had no help whatsoever from the referee or his assistants. At times I thought I was watching rugby league, there was that much shirt tugging going on ! Can't understand why we persisted in hoofing the ball long when it was obvious their two centre halves were going to clean up all day long.
Brad Walker showed great composure at times & boy, how we missed Rhys Oates' endeavour !

How pathetic was that scrap? Why do footy players fight like school kids?? Not saying they should go at UFC style, rather they didn't do it all, but that is embarrassing.

For me, Thomas doesn't look as fit as he did before he got injured.

To be fair to Richardson, at 17 years of age, and the skinny frame of the kid, he's been more than okay in a position we are lacking in options at the moment.

Just need to see the season out with hopefully a couple of good performances, namely at Blackpool and at home to Carlisle.

Funny old division. Stevenage smashed Portsmouth for 3 today and sit 4th in the table. Did they really look that good when we took them apart in January?
