Well done lads! Managed to suck Cheltenham and Notts County back into it. What's happened to The O's? Looks like they've thrown in the towel before next Monday with their court case.

Notts county hadn't scored in 7 of 11 at home before we tickled their tummy and Newport had only won once in last 20 games when they sacked Westley, against us obviously.......

The fact Cambridge only won 1 in 7, as I'm sure you know as a seasoned Pools fan, is a guarantee they'll win tonight.

We are like the record slayers......Are you on a sh1t run of form, can't buy a win?? Are you struggling with connecting your banjo to bovine posteriors??? Well fear not. Hartlepool are up next

We heard all the right things from Hignett but never followed through with them. Jones keeps saying how it's all about digging in, battling when the going is tough, staying in the game and earning the right to win the game.

He certainly seems to be getting his point across.

I'm dead chuffed for the bloke who hasn't seen us away since decimalisation or whenever. My longest streak without seeing us win a game was something like 14 games. They won pretty much every other game they played, the bastads.

To be fair Cambridge were very poor, they didn't look like scoring with 11 men so after the strange sending off it was game over.

Game of very few chances, we took ours when it came. Walker playing makes a big difference, strolled through the game again, looks a million pound player. Featherstone had a very good game in midfield pulling the strings, Woods worked hard and deserved his goal.
A couple of lads had very average games but not going to name names after we finally got an away win.
Think that's us safe now. The way we are playing I can see us getting to 50 points . All in all a good night .

From Poolsworld sounded like our players reacted to the challenge and may have influenced the ref? If so, about fucking time. Sick of them all standing about when our players get decked.

I'm really pleased for Brad Walker I hope it is the real deal for him and Pools.

Normally with a sending off the ref goes straight to his back pocket. He took about 5 minutes to show it. I didn't hear one fan in the away fan even shouting for a yellow, and the Pools players looked as shocked as their lads.

It was right in front of the linesman so possibly he saw something nobody else did and then had a word with the ref.

It was a tough game but not dirty if you know what I mean. Richardson had to commit about 4 or 5 fouls before finally getting a yellow first half and even then the ref took a while to think about it having warned him just minutes earlier.

Simpson gave impression he left something on him and going by his commentary I was half expecting a red so maybe just a different angle? Be interesting to see.

Thomas do ok?

Because it happens so rarely I always forget how great I feel when Pools get 3 points. Makes me want to attempt some ambitious DIY or something.

My only worry about tonight is Newport winning again. Orient are gone by the looks of it, but Newport are still within 'great escape' distance.

I am don't worry I just don't think the players deserved the pillorying they got from some after Saturday. We are down to the bare bones and over the last six games are top six in the form table. That is a good effort which they deserve credit for. People like Scott Harrison and Brad Walker much maligned and even ridiculed are becoming first names on the teamsheet. As Pools fans over the years all we ask for is commitment and 100% effort I think we're getting that right now, we will lose more games before the end of the season because we're a pretty average team but that's not the players or even the managers fault. Let's get right behind them.

Blatant red going by highlights, late and with intent imo.

Quite an amusing aside was that Shaun Derry thought it was beneath the bloke who scored a hat trick against Carlisle on Saturday Elito against Pools tonight.

So I'd suggest the defeat was everything the knob jockey desevered.

Us beating them tonight is this division in nutshell though. I genuinely thought they were excellent at the Vic and thought we might be in for a long night. It sounds like they were dire, I always think managers 'resting' players at this level is a nonsense and sends out the wrong message to the other players.

Strange game comparing Notts County 3rd bottom before Saturday and Cambridge 7th top before tonight. All 3 teams played usual head tennis and passing ball along back line then back to gk who had to clear under pressure. Difference seems to be ability to score Notts County loan midfielder and Ameobi's slow motion through the middle, our good forward interpassing which led to Woods goal tonight and us wanting it more resulting in many walking wounded and what seemed to be around 15min of holdups (only 9 minutes extra time given). Still as I have said in other threads my first win with pools since forever although I only get to 3/4 away games a year. PS Brad is as good as Jack Baldwin so perhaps £1m plus for him and Nathan to fund next year. Also I think it was Feathersone who was caught offside. Happy days

Yeah I watched it four or five times and I went from thinking it was harsh on the first viewing to a clear red card. Absolutely nowhere near the ball, studs showing and it looked like he wanted to leave a bit on Deverdics. The ref has done well to spot that first time.
