if Victoria Park was earmarked for land to be used for the new leisure centre and the council were happy to allocate land somewhere near the marina for a new stadium for Pools to play in?

And the land is worth?

And a new stadium would cost?

And who pays for the new stadium?

I would just like the club/council to stop all this shit and concentrate on getting things right on the pitch instead of battling relegation for another 10 years.

The only land big enough is off Greenland road and I believe that's owned by Heerema. It also has a big storage shed right in the middle of it.

The only road in there is gated off and owned by Heerema too.

Non-starter, as is this fucking ridiculous idea. Our current ground is fine, it's in a good location and has a big enough capacity.

I would be very disappointed and annoyed. New everythings cost a lot more to build than maintain current infrastructure.
The Vic is well located and the right size and fits perfectly into the designation of the area of the Towns Plan.... or will do when they correct their 'accidental' misnaming.

Not sure Heerema own it, leased from who ever owns the Docks, there is the land where all the cars used to be parked.

Is Jacksons landing not big enough? Might be a bit tight but I reckon it could fit a ground on that area.
That said why not stick the proposed leisure centre there and keep the Vic where it is? The leisure centre would pretty much always have the same level of custom wherever it is in town.

I don't want a new ground, I like our current one thank you very much.

Is there not an envelope of land between the railway line and the dual carriageway beside where Focus used to be currently sat empty?

I don't think it's anywhere near big enough and you'd only have access from one side.

I never want to see us leave the Vic personally. We have the space to do anything we want to it on the existing site, which is right in the Town centre where a football ground should be. Lower league new grounds are generally soulless and shite.

Definitely move it. Its unacceptable that clubs like Norwich, Lincoln, Queens Park Rangers, Scunthorpe, Doncaster are closer to sea level than we are.

Isn't that what caused the demise of West Hartlepool RFC, helped push Darlington to their current situation, and led to Coventry city being deep in the mire?

Then Hull City have done well since moving.

Tricky, I'd be inclined for us to stay put. Who wants a house behind a leisure centre and looking at train lines and morrisons anyway?

Definitely stay at the Vic.

Personally I don't like the abandoning of a clubs home and history and that's not about living in the past or not looking forward but new grounds are just characterless concrete shite.

Just saying.

I won't believe it until I see an artists impression of it.

If we see artists impressions of it, it'll never happen and we'll be safe.

Let's see. Flog the Vic, claim they have to because of government cuts and it becomes a political hot potato. Build a community 'facility' somewhere cheapish like the top of Brenda Road with a 2,000 capacity and we too can have a pitch like Newport.

Absolutely bugger all wrong with the Vic. I would find it really hard to adapt to a prefab.

Always felt the same myself, I'm a football ground 'anorak', only a few I've never been to and detest so many of the boring all seater grounds but I've come to the conclusion having watched pools for 30+ years that I've had enough of winning absolutely nothing. Not one trophy / title in 109 years of existence.

We could just plod on for another 109 years but what's clear is that unless a sugar daddy comes in and spends millions (which ain't going to happen), I think it's accepted that we need to generate extra revenue to survive / progress and maybe, just maybe that means moving.

Let's be clear, it would concern me (currently) if Coxhall was the man that led a move but with the right people behind a move and proper thought going into the design (including terracing) I'd consider it. If I had a vote, not that I would of course.....

Before everyone gets carried away.

If someone has actually heard something about a new ground etc

Lets look at some facts.

New stadium build...... £10m easy.

Infrastucture works.... £1m.

Design fees even at a measly 5%...... £500k.

Cost of land....... £250k?

And I think I am being generous here.

So who between coxall and the council are going to fund that?

And how?

But even dafter. How will they recoup their outlay?

Lock the fucking thread.

Its making us look daft.

And I havent even mentioned that they would need a construction company to build it.

And believe me they are very much risk averse these days.

They will all do cresit checks on the owners and find they might not actually get paid.

Imagine the costs of warranties guarantees etc.

Ripper could pribably advise better on this.

Its widely accepted that to give you an absolute bare minmum ground with no facilities other than basic, it will cost aroumd 1000 pounds per seat.

So you might het a 7000 seater for 7 million.

Dont expect food and drink though and go to the toilet before leaving home.

People are living in cloud cuckoo land if they think the current owners and/or council could even club together even a fraction of the cost of a new ground!!!!
We move out of the Vic = no more Pools....FACT!!!! sadx

I agree with trying to run the club within its means and it looks like what has happened over the last few months and indeed the coming months will confirm that the club could not be operate the way it was being run as there is now no cash injection as was the case with IOR.

As for Coxall wanting to buy the ground (why would the council sell to him anyway?) and stating that there was some big master plan which would mean the club would be financially stable and be able to look after itself, is and was always pie in the sky!

So would it not be easier for Coxall to come out and say that he was naive to believe that the master plan would happen, it has now been shelved and we are cutting our cloth to ensure the club does not go under?
That the loans were taken out to pay outstanding bills and with the sale of a player or two in the summer, the loan(s) will be paid back.

This would leave the club on a level footing and with the cost cutting exercise complete, we should be able to live within our means next season and beyond.

And if the club is sold because Coxall had bitten off more than he could chew and wanted out, then so be it.
And with the Trust in place, this time we could ensure that the club is not taken for a ride again.

So over to Coxall.....
