Is jones still at the club? He seemed to be nearing fitness every other week last year but don't feel like I've heard him mentioned for a while.

Hopefully this isn't my Mellish moment....

Good debut at Barnet and that was it.

No loss.

I was wondering the same? Surely can't still be injured?

Have'nt seen him round on a match day for a while?

We could do with a centreback in for Bates?

Have we released him with no announcement or does he just not figure in Dave Jones' plans.

I think we need to keep Jones, we need to meet our annual quota of 18 centre backs.

To be honest the way he went down with his latest injury in the box at whatever away game it was - I would have thought he was finished.

If he was a horse he would have been shot on the spot.

Every month that passes makes Hignett's decision last summer to give Rob Jones a contract look really poor, on a par with Colin Cooper signing his old mate Stuart Parnaby. To date Jones has only managed 3 more appearances in a Pools shirt than Parnaby!

To be fair to Jones, I'm sure he'd love to be playing. But even when (if?) his crocked knee gets the OK, he's going to be weeks away from match fitness.

How 'surely can't he be injured' it looked like a serious knee injury.

What I can't believe is that he hasn't retired or the club haven't made steps to terminate his contract. Our squad is absolutely farcical.

Oh don't be so silly.

We have 6 Centre backs.

1-3 no one has seen for at least 6 months, and apparently are not good enough to get on the bench when we have no defenders left.
4 - injury prone and heart the size of a pea
5 - injury prone, always going off with a knock to the head or collapsing like a shot Giraffe.
6 - we released him, then resigned him.

Ok your right.

This is sounding like one of the old Championship Manager formations, where you'd stuff the middle, ignore the wings, and end up playing something daft like 2-3-2-2-1.... If I here that Dave Jones has gone on a Scouting Mission to check out a forward from Burgos called Onesimo, I'll be seriously concerned....

If Jones doesn't sign Mark Kerr, then I'm never going ever again.

Rob Jones is Pools unicorn..... the mythical defender we've all heard about him but never actually seen him.

How easy would it be for the club to address this on the Official website?

Remember the days when 'In the treatment room' was a regular feature?

There was a smaller casualty list on the first day of the Somme.

Continues treatment according to the OS. Perhaps he has caught dead leg off Mathew Bates.

After Walkers last 2 strong performances, would you put Bates back in?

At best he is a bit cumbersome :hand:

Jones was coaching the youth team at an under 16s game on Dyke house recently.

So Walker is better than bates as a cb because of less than 180 minutes of playing there?

I'm sure I've seen Matthew bates give performances better than that of Walker but let's not go overboard. He was MOM in centre midfield against Stevenage remember too and he is actually a midfielder.

Saying that if Donnelly is fit I'd rather bring him in for Richardson instead of moving Walker back into midfield. It's laughable we are in this situation. Clubs in a diabolical position and can only pray we don't fall victim of the cost cutting gamble

This. I remember quite a few people on here "going overboard" about Jordan Richards' performance against Derby in the FA Cup last season. Now he's playing non-league and could well be finished with Pools.

Walker did really well last week and deserves to keep his place in the team, but it's daft to assume that's him sorted as a centre half, not a midfield player.
